Jason, back in 1984 Yale produced some very heavy (in weight) lock hardware, and no doubt rated it as "heavy duty." At that time I had a customer who needed his whole house rekeyed, which included a mortise lock, dead bolt installation, and installation of a Yale heavy duty rim lock. Yale locks were new to me, but I developed a keen appreciation for them. Coincidentally, I worked for Eaton, Yale, and Towne in the 1970's, but that was before I became a locksmith. My best to you and Kim, and thank you for the Live Saturday Call-In! Excellent Video. {FromFatherTime}

Yale was certainly common for residential back in the day. You cannot beat their rim locks even today, but they got that cost up so much its out of reach for many homeowners, which is why you see so many of those rim & jimmyproof locks now replaced with the crap from the big box stores :(

Non adjustable backset, well that sucks. They used to be adjustable years back. Very cool with the acrylic door simulation piece between them. Thanks Jason, very informative.

Very informative. Of all the properties we have at work, there is only one double cylinder deadbolt in use, and that is on a roof access door. Have never had to change or monkey with it, so its cool to see what all is involved. Thank you sir!

I’ve ran into this on a different style lock. It’s pretty easy to workaround.

Will you explain the codes stamped on all the LSDA tailpieces, please?
@selock5 жыл бұрын
Nope :) Hehe no seriously I dunno, I just refer to them as short medium long straight for knob/lever, short and medium thin ones (in this video) and Single cylinder deadbolt style. I am sure the codes mean something to the mfg's but much like mfg part numbers, locksmith don't care what they mean :)
