I’m getting definite “American Gothic” (the piece of art, not the 90s television show 😮 ) from that thumbnail. You just need to be stood in front of a Dutch barn… 😊😊😊
@TonysBonsai Жыл бұрын
I had to google it as I wasn't familiar with that work, but yes I get what you mean with the pitchfork. I should do a thumbnail inspired by American psycho. I love that film.
@TheBonsaiGarden Жыл бұрын
@@TonysBonsai I’ve read the book but never seen the film. I imagine it would involve a car battery, a chainsaw and blood up the curtains. Now you need to make the video fit the thumbnail 🥹 Tony’s Bonsai - not only providing bonsai inspiration, but cultural education to the masses. 😆

@@TonysBonsai once the separated air layer has a mass of roots to sustain it, (perhaps a year after initial separation) stick it in a shallow basket with lots of perforations like a large, wide pond basket - It will work magic for giving you great radial root spread.

Some viscous thorns on that tree, I cut them off before I work on Hawthorns, living dangerous with that Tony, air layer is the best move in the spring or later, then finish up with two trees. Take care mate.

Hi Joe. Good shout! I forgot to mention in the video, but I went round and tipped every thron off the tree before I worked on it. Some of the thorns had started to grow buds quite a way along their length so I didn't want to just chop them off.

@GoodSamaritan1972 Жыл бұрын
Hi Tony...nice work as always. I have a doubt though, why do we need to bring all final branch movement facing up? Is it for design's sake or for better growth of the tree? Can we make some of the flow facing downwards if we so choose?
@TonysBonsai Жыл бұрын
Good question. The branches can definitely have a more horizontal movement, or as you suggest can even go downwards if that fits in with the design, but at this stage, my aim is to maintain a healthy tree so that it is very strong to grow lots of healthy new roots when I attempt the air layer, and so I must have the branches pointing upwards so that they are moving towards the light and that way I will have a much stronger tree. I will talk about this in an upcoming video when I prune my cascading hawthorn.
