This SACD-Player has a great DAC implementation and sound through its Line output. It delivers more details than with the external DAC I mentioned in the video. I think I didn’t do the sound of the CD-player justice. After having even more time to compare both setups (one using the built in DAC and one using the DAC from Pro-ject) I would go on with the built in DAC since it sounds so good. I only listen at low to mid volumes and the Yamaha BD-A1060 is hard to beat in sound quality. I think the outboard DAC would have to be from an even higher class than the Pro-ject DAC Box S2+. Edit: the background is darker when using the external DAC mentioned. The sound is livelier when using the built in DAC.

I have an older Yamaha BD-a1000 unit but I'm quite sure you can output SACD from the HDMI on these units.

My bd-a 1060 has different issues with CD tray during usage and player completely died after 5 years of usage. It has PCM1965 DAC. Functionality is good, but reliability not ☹️

It is too bad that there are no more hifi quality bd/cd players out there. Just the cheapies at least in a reasonably affordable form.
