Just bought a used blaster. It’s starts fine with absolutely zero idle. It runs good too as long as I’m always giving it gas. Is poor idle the symptom you’re addressing or were you like me with no idle at all?

How long is the Tors Throttle Cable?
@vintagetintrader1062 Жыл бұрын
I’m planing to use a 2005 CR80 carb, 28mm flat side, no need for any kit as using a 450 throttle cable
@larryc Жыл бұрын
Should work, and the flat slide will be a little more crisp than the round slide in the stock carb. You will still need to connect the tors wires so the spark will match the air/fuel at idle.

Hey Larry C, thank you for your video! I have a 03 blaster. I noticed you removed the old lid from the tors. Was that just for ease of getting the clip out. Because it does look like, and you stated you used the new lid with the tors delete. My tors delete kit went on fine btw and I have a running and ripping blaster!
@larryc2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that was just to make it easier to remove the clip. Happy to hear your blaster is ripping!
@REALBUCKDIESEL2 жыл бұрын
@@larryc Thank you for your quick reply! I was double questioning myself because the stock lid/cap has grooves that hold the spring a little better. I don't think it makes a huge difference but yeah thank you, its awesome to have a ripping blaster, this video was my go to get it done. Replayed probably 10 times to make sure each step was done properly! 🙏

Just received the motion pro kit for the blaster from your recommendation. I’m curious what power tool and blade did you use to remove millimeters from the idle screw housing.
@larryc Жыл бұрын
I used a dremel with a cutting wheel. You can get them at Walmart for cheap, and they are a great tool to have.
@Thats_X_ Жыл бұрын
@@larryc does it matter the power range of the dremel ? Also does the cutting wheel have to be a certain material to shave the carb idle screw housing?
@larryc Жыл бұрын
@@Thats_X_ My dremel has a few speed settings, I typically use mid range speed 3 depending on what i am cutting. I use the carbon cutting wheel to cut most things, because they tend to last longer. The carburetor is soft aluminum, and the cutting wheel will have no problem going right through.
@larryc Жыл бұрын
I can't recommend a dremel enough! They are a very versatile tool to have,and you will use it alot. I just used mine to machine the cases on my blaster for extra clearance when installing the vitos 240kit. If you get time check that video out lots of good info in there. Last but not least good luck on your install, hope you get her idling, and ripping around soon!

I need help ! I just bought a blaster and it seems like the wire thing is all done but the idle screw is not in the carburetor. I have a hard time to start it but not sure what it is the only way to start it is with staring fluid after that you can just keep using it like nothing ,?
@larryc2 жыл бұрын
If it will run on starting fluid, it is most likely a fuel issue. The (TORS) throttle over ride system will cut spark, but if your bike will run on starting fluid then you have good spark, and it is probably a clogged jet. I would recommend cleaning the carburetor. You should also check that you are getting fuel to the carb by pulling the fule line off, and seeing that fule is getting to the carburetor, I have seen a dirty Petcock valve cause a fule issue.
@diegos96302 жыл бұрын
Thanks for replying . The carb is getting fuel I check that already ,but I will clean the carb just to make sure , one thing I didn’t mentioned is that one’s stars with the staring fluid after you can get it on easy but If I leave it overnight then I need more staring fluid .
@diegos96302 жыл бұрын
I think this is important ones the bike is running , I notice that if I open the choke or close it it does not make a difference ?
@larryc2 жыл бұрын
@@diegos9630 you might be getting to much air, once it is started try to spray starting fluid around the head gasket, base gasket, intake boot, and also the crank seal on the stator side If it reves up you have an air leak. An air leak will cause it to be hard to start especially when cold, and will also cause it to have a rough idle/ not want to idle at all.

@larryc2 жыл бұрын
You may need to try and shave down the area where the screw threads in. I couldn't get enough adjustment at first either, but after I did that it idled fine.
@larryc2 жыл бұрын
Hay just reread your comment.Do you have the kit installed yet,or just cut the wires and reconnected them? If you haven't installed the kit yet then yes it won't idle if the (TORS) circuit is cut and reconnected. The reason is because the (TORS) circuit uses spark to control the idle. That is why the factory carb doesn't have a idle screw. When the circuit goes bad it won't let the bike run. That is why people cut the wires and reconnect them. However when you reconnect them you bypass the original idle screw on the TORS housing . That screw pushes on a sensor that would provide information to the circuit and speed up or slow down your idle. However with the wires cut it can no longer control your idle. Sorry for the long explanation I probably should have gone over that in the video. Anyway hope this helps .I road my bike for a year or two before installing the kit, and know how annoying it can be if you're bike doesn't idle right.

Why do you need to tap a new air fuel screw could you not just do without it ? I’m wondering because I didn’t bother doing it and my blaster won’t run right so I’m thinking maybe this is the reason why ? It seems as if I’m getting way to much air
@larryc3 жыл бұрын
Hello! I needed to install the idle air screw,because the (TORS) throttle over ride system failed. The tors will cut spark and not allow the bike to run. To fix that I cut and reconnected the yellow and black wire, after that the bike will run but not idle. The idle air screw kit fixes that. However I don't think that is your issue. Do you have an air box on your bike, and is your air filter in good condition?
@larryc3 жыл бұрын
Also could you tell me how your bike is running/symptoms is it revving high, or bogging out?
@loganlolley43113 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have a stock 05 blaster I just got and started trying to get it running. I got a cheap Chinese carb off of Amazon and I’m thinking my jets are the wrong size I have the air box and new air filter on. When I first installed the carb the bike ran good for a few minutes but wouldn’t idle it would just die if you did not give it fuel and then after it sat for about ten minutes it would t start at all. I can get it to fire and spit and sputter alittle but it won’t run. Also you were right about the tap they sent not inspiring confidence. I broke it off in my stock carb I was gonna rebuild. I’m thinking if I can get this stock carb figured out or find an aftermarket that actually has the right jets and stuff I can get it running but I’m not sure.
@larryc3 жыл бұрын
Man that sucks about your stock carb. Yeah I have not heard good things about aftermarket carbs. I believe the stock jets are 240 main and 60 for the pilot jet,but I am not sure. You could try to put the stock jets in the aftermarket carb,but I think your best bet would be to try to fix your stock carb. You may also be able to find a decent deal on ebay for a stock carb.
@loganlolley43113 жыл бұрын
@@larryc thanks man I appreciate it I’m hoping a local machine shop can fix it for me. I was gonna change the jets into the aftermarket carb but the threads are different. I appreciate the help. I still don’t understand why you need the screw just because of removing the tors system. Doesn’t seem like the tors would have anything to do with the air / fuel mixture but idk

@larryc Жыл бұрын
What brand of idle screw did you use? The reason I ask is because I have noticed a difference between motion pro and other brands. The motion pro has a more aggressive taper, and lifts the slid higher giving you more adjustment.
@jeffsmith17302 жыл бұрын
It still won't idle after I ground it down
@larryc2 жыл бұрын
Can you see how far up the slide is when the idle screw is all the way in?

Not many people kno iis u can just unplug the tors and the idle adjustmen screw is on top of the tors box . Alotblf people have a kno idle issue .all you need to do is adjust you ldle .its on top of the tors box. No need to drill a idle screw hole .
@larryc2 жыл бұрын
I will be doing a video on this soon. The (TORS) throttle over ride system will cut spark if the system fails. Mine did and they often do. You are correct. when the sensors are working you can adjust the idle using the screw on the top of the (TORS ) housing. That screw pushes on a sensor that will adjust the idle using SPARK! That is why the blaster and banshee don't have idle air screws. The (TORS) is designed to be a safety feature in case the bike is in an accident it will (OVER RIDE THE THROTTLE) and cut spark so it will not blow up or, run off in to a crowd of people. But it also uses spark to control the idle. if the system fails it thinks this is happening and the bike will not run right at all. It will be very hard to start, rev up and down, and act all crazy. Instead of trying to replace both sensors and the (TORS ) brain because all of them have to work and it can be hard to find out witch one it is. It is easier to cut the yellow and black wire and solid black wire coming from the stator and reconnect them thus completing the circuit and allowing the bike to run right. I recommend cutting them after the connector coming from the stator side that way if you do ever want to spend the money on a new TORS you can just plug it in. However once you have completed the circuit and the bike will at least run you are left with another problem it will not idle because it can no longer receive information from the sensor that would normally control the idle by adding or subtracting spark. That is why lots of reputable companies like motion pro have invested money in to making kits that will give you a idle screw. Because you could spend hundreds of dollars trying to fix the TORS or you could delete it for like 30$ 👍 I hope this helps you understand why people do this, and again I will be doing a video on this to try and clear up some of the confusion

No need to cut wires when you can disconnect

Disconnecting the wires will not fix the spark issue. You have to cut the solid black and black with yellow line wires and reconnect them to complete the circuit. I do recommend cutting them after the connector coming from the stator side.
