I got a 2014 with 2k miles on it for 4k and I absolutely love this bike. I've put 2k miles on it since. I will be replacing the steering bearings, throw on a slip on exhaust, and call it good.

Only thing I disagree with is the aftermarket support. Granted, it’s not as robust as Harley, but there are still quite a few companies who make a good deal of upgrades for this bike. SS Custom Cycle, DeanSpeed, Low and Mean, etc.

Only paint problem I got is with the mirrors, there is problem there, everything else is good. I don’t know for sure but the handle in the video doesn’t seem the original, I haben’t got any problem with the paint on it.

I have a '17 SCR950, same bike just styled a little different. Great bike! Super reliable and fun to ride. Not the fastest bike, but makes a great around town just mess'n around bike. I rode mine from Mexico to Seattle and from California to Virgina. Never had a single issue. Just keep up with your oil changes and it should run forever. People even put turbo kits on them. Lol The only stock part that has ever actually broken on me is the Throttle Cable.

Many have fixed the wobble by switching to steel tapered bearings and/or switching from the stock tyres to Michelin.

I'm buying a 2014 for $6000 Canadian. It has all the upgrades already done, such as a Memphis shade fairing, V&h exhaust and breather. full led light conversion, Ivan's cpu flash, new commando II tires, and a z1r 2 up seat with backrest. Can't wait to pick it up and hit the road.

The speedometer chrome ring is only held on by what appears to be double sided tape. You could just get rid of it all together or sand & paint.

I've read and seen the exact opposite of most of this. Lots of people have said it feels very secure at highway speeds, and there is a lot of aftermarket support for this bike. Granted, this video is several years old at this point. The only things I can agree on are the frame design and the odometer.

I just bought a 2017 C spec last month. Not sure if this is good for highways, Maybe I am new but I can't get past 70 mph, I feel vibration and sort of instability. Currently 65-70mph is good for me but wondering if people do some modification for vibration.

If you replace the head bearings it helps a lot but a stabilizer would be the only thing that would actually “fix” it.

It is the headset bearings in the triple tree. Look up All balls pin bearings for the Yamaha bolt, it'll take the wobble away.

@surajshrestha5171 ... I can easily hit 90mph, steady for hours on the motorway. No vibration if holding the handlebars, but yes, the death-wobble exists if I free both hands ... I've recently changed the tyres, & the death wobble vanished.

@@dunderaa A lot of manufacturers use plastic parts on their bikes. It helps reduce unnecessary weight gain/loss. Star [Yamaha] sells a brass visor for the speedometer. There's a lot of aftermarket products for this bike. Including some from Yamaha. Stop hitting the dry erase board with your marker. Its distracting.

Here’s what I know, I beat this bike and very much so use every bolt I’ve owned and they always start and never have issues. I’ve had a sportster now for 3 weeks and had numerous problems. Plus for $4000 you can get an amazing nearly brand new bolt, for $4000 you can get a beat sportster.

Could be the ergonomics of the bike. It only happens when you take both hands off the bars. A pretty good way to at least reduce the wobble is by replacing the steering head bearing with an “all balls pin bearing” for the Yamaha bolt.

Thinking about getting one of these as my third bike. My first was a CBR300R, then an R6 (which was stolen). Thinking about a slower, commuter, but still sporty cruiser like this. Any other bikes you recommend looking at? I've heard the Sportster, and the Indian Scout are good candidates, but they're pricey.

So that was my old bolt, I am actually doing a new bolt build on the channel right now. But I did like it to a certain degree. A little rough of a ride because they were drag specialties shocks made for dynas I believe. When I put new ones on this bike ill let you know if they ride any better

Highway speeds here are 100km/h so this is definitely still at the top of my list, that speed wobble issue is disconcerting

I would say that if you like the bike the wobble isn’t anything that should stop you from getting it. It’s not that bad and only happens when both hands are off the bars at certain speeds. It can also be fixed or drastically reduced with a $30 part. I’ve had 3 bolts and loved all of them. Definitely check out some of my other content, I do a lot with the bolts

Wow that paint failing on all those parts is ridiculous. I own a 2008 Yamaha motorbike (similar to a scooter but with a semi-auto transmission) that probably cost $1,000 or less new... (current model is $1,500 now)... the bike is 13 years old, has been ridden 72,000 km, owned near the ocean, and it has NONE of that issue!

Speed wobble happens most often upon decel when you take your hands off the bars they start to shake back and forth like a fish trying to throw the hook. I've heard multiple ways to cure it to varying degrees of success.

Who needs to ride without holding a handlebar or with one hand? because only then you get wobble. Yamaha said they not going to fix it because bike is designed to ride with both hands on the handlebar. If you ride with both hands as you should, without playing a macho man or cool guy there will be no wobble. So stop fooling around people and ride safe period.
