Another great video! I’m with you on the overpriced snap rings & fastener hardware items, McMaster Carr has saved me a lot of hunting.
@montana2strokeracer2 жыл бұрын
Yes, Mcmaster Carr is a really good source, the only kicker is the 12.00 shipping on 4.00 worth of clips. On the bright side, it's better to have 100 from them, than to pay 20.00 for one from Ebay. Thanks for hanging out with us.

Ouch at 23:45 when the screw head popped. Not just me it happens to I see. On the plus side we got to see how you drill them out. Glad you show the hard parts too. Learned a lot on this one.I've become a fan of anti seize for some applications! The TS250 is looking great, BTW.

Another great watch Dale. Looks like this bike has had a bit of a life but it's getting the TLC it needs now. The left hand drill bit payed for itself on that job. I hear you on the crazy prices, 'Classic Bike' means triple the price. Best wishes, Dean.

Thanks buddy, yeah, it's a shame what folks are asking for stuff, as a consumer we must be smart and find the alternate parts and share with others. You bet, they don't always work, but the times they do it's a wonderful thing. Left hand drill bits. Glad you were hanging out with me today.

What type of fluid should I put back if I pull that cover off.its a 1978 yamaha dt100e I'm trying to get rid of the oil pump and put a block off plate
@montana2strokeracer5 ай бұрын
The correct oil for the transmission and clutch would be a standard non synthetic 10/30 motor oil. I would however rethink removing the oil injection pump. I have never seen one fail unless they have been run out of oil. They are very reliable units.
@remoteskweez5 ай бұрын
@montana2strokeracer I already pre mix the fuel for it, so I'm used to just mixing it

@@montana2strokeracer thank you .should I put some oil for wet clutch?
@montana2strokeracer5 ай бұрын
Yes, I use the cheapest NON synthetic oil in 10/30 that I can find. Napa has it for about 3.00 or 4.00 dollars a quart. No synthetic, or semi synthetic oils, your clutch will slip with those.

Hey I know this video is a little old but I’m working on my what I think is a 69? Yamaha at1 and I’m having issues with the kick starter. The kick clip won’t seem to return back to its key hole so the gear won’t engage on every kick. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
@montana2strokeracer Жыл бұрын
Hi, it sounds like the spring clip is not in the spring pocket. Another thing that happens with these is the Kickstarter shaft slips on the splines and when it does it damages the case inside and the lever will keep slipping closer and closer to the side cover next to the oil fill plug, until it is touching the side cover. If this is the case, you need a new shaft or need to weld the old one to make it work properly again. I have done two or three videos on how to realign and weld the kick shaft. Actually think this video is one of them.

Dale, I am restoring an old yamaha (year 87) too at a very slow pace, are all yamaha crankshaft o-rings the same size? mine is missing the o-ring and wanted to know the size. thanks!
@montana2strokeracer2 жыл бұрын
Not sure if they are all the same, the ones I work on, 69 to 73 are. Not sure what the size is I order them new from Yamaha, they still have them, they are very thin in order to go inside the seal spacer. I order from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC out of Utah. You of course can order from your local dealer. Thanks for hanging out in the shop with me.

@@montana2strokeracer Because the CTs were never sold in Germany, there is very little information, spare parts, etc. here. Since I am currently restoring my CT1B, your videos are very helpful for me. So thank you so much, Dale. :)
