Thank you so much! This is just what I needed. I’ve had my 805 for almost two years but haven’t even begun to learn what all of these buttons do. Great step by step tutorial!

Hello Hugh! My name is Glenn Williams. I used to live in Philly and I remember stopping in Cunningham Piano store a few years back and asking, "Where have I seen you before?" You just smiled and waited for me to figure it out. Finally it came to me. I watch a lot of KZbin videos but never imagined that you were right up I-76 in King of Prussia. Eventually I moved to Connecticut. (Of course I brought my Yamaha cvp 609 with me)! I'm glad to see that you are still making helpful videos - especially videos that give instructions on the versatility of the Yamaha Clavanova. The 809 doesn't seem to be much different than my 609. You are still doing a GREAT JOB! Thank you for sharing you knowledge. Please keep up the good work!!

Hi Hugh! Thank you so much for this video. I’ve just taken possession of my cvp809, and this has guided me in the right direction as I’m overwhelmed with what it can do. I’m about a grade 2, so this was right up my street! Beautifully explained, and yes, yes, yes, please do more of these. Love it!

As always, Hugh, you do a great job. I hope that along the way you're going to be really diving into a lot of the features of the piano as opposed to just playing the songs that are in the book. Especially for those of us that are more accomplished piano players. Thanks so much I did learn something tonight though LOL

It's wonderful to see how deeply dedicated you are to music and Yamaha's customers! What a shining beacon of light and hope you are! Note: It was so inspiring to see you and Craig Knudsen together! Your KZbin collaboration with him fascinated me so much that I went to see Craig when he came to MN! What a special day that was. What would happen if you, Craig Knudsen and Peter Baartsman got together? I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Great presentation performance. So happy to hear that you gonna do do a serious of tutorial presentation like such. This is the best and most helpful one for 809. I immediately purchased the book. When is your next one?

Nice video🎹👍🏻 I'm not so beginner as it aims but have a question(. I have a cvp 709 by the way) when I just play like I play the piano usually with right hand melody left hand arpeggios and so on how do I use the style there? Will It work? I mean for moll chords etc I don't press the key and the black key.. How do I do convey all that to combine it with my piano playing?

@@CunninghamPiano that's great definitely will follow your tutorials. If you have a quick watch at our channel the last 2 non shorts videos my son and I play you can see exactly what we play like left hand.

Great video Hugh! CVP 809 ordered and can’t wait to follow your lead. What program are you using on your iPad and how did you get the music onto your device? Cheers…

Well done Hugh!! Did you need to set the "single finger" chord setting on the control panel? If so, maybe you should explain that in the tutorial. You're doing a great job of making the 809 less intimidating!

Thanks, Thomas! I forgot to include that step for setting the single finger chord setting in the video - I'll make sure to include that in the next tutorial! Thanks again!

This seems like a useful tutorial series. Any chance you are able to adjust the shutter speed down on your cameras to eliminate the flashing LEDs?
@CunninghamPiano

Thanks for your comment - I'm trying to find ways to eliminate the flashing LEDs, but I'm still trying to get my camera frame rates to cooperate. If you have any suggestions, I'm always up for finding ways to improve these videos!
@map-reduce
@map-reduce 2 жыл бұрын
@@CunninghamPiano it depends on the camera of course, but the problem usually is that your shutter speed is higher than your capture frame rate, allowing less light in per frame, and catching the LED's while they cycle. Shutter speed typically auto-adjusts and will be lower in low light (in fact if you turn off all the lights, you may find the LED's don't flash in the video). Check your cameras to see if they allow manual setting of the shutter speed, and turn it down to equal or lower than your capture frame rate. You'll probably need to adjust your lighting a bit to prevent wash out. If you don't have a manual shutter speed, you may be able to turn your lights down to cause the auto shutter speed adjustment, but this may not give you the desired lighting. I remember you have pretty good equipment, so I'll bet your cameras have manual shutter speed adjustments.

I played part of this tonight on my Clavinova CVP-809! It was sooooo muchhhh funnnn! I had to stop playing it, though, because I began singing and-- according to my wife, that ruckus caused our 3 year old to stir! Interesting fact: before tonight, I only used "full fingered AI" with a few songs that I knew well! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you decide to demonstrate Memory; it requires a 6/8 style that I haven't found yet; note: Peter Baartsman recently did a fantastic rendition of Memory recently: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZ7TZ6Obmah6aq8 If you can, please ask Peter where his sheet music, backing tracks, etc... are... :-). Hearing him play Memory like that, post-pandemic, was so beautiful; it was acoustically delicious and an appreciated sign of hope in these times...
