Showing some different kits from the unit, using it as a MIDI controller for Superior Drummer, playing with it in an open mic setting, and rambling about it until you're wanting to rip my throat out.

Thanks so much for this. I too am an owner of a fantastic DD-65 and I love it. I've hooked it up with a good stand, HH65 and KU100 pedals (Strongly recommended) and am running it through my DAW using mostly Addictive Drums 2. When I heard the DD65 was discontinued, my local rep didn't know if it was replaced or not. In a panic I went scouring the net for a replacement DD65 and came across your video. Whew! YES, they're still making this and they've improved on it. And it comes in black...nice. Thanks for this review and honest opinion and congrats on being the first KZbin review. Keep making music my friend, you sound great and I look forward to seeing more of your reviews. Stan Vancouver BC

@@MesaMXR I have a question. Have you ever used the Roland Octapad before such as the SPD series which are the 8, 11, 20 and the 30?? And if so what do you think about those other portable electronic drumkits compared to the Yamaha dd65 and the dd75??

Awesome. I respect anyone learning to play any instrument. I’m 60 and learning guitar and piano/keyboards. I’m infatuated now. Already own 5 guitars. And 3 key keyboards. I will never stop. Makes me feel so good and I totally suck. And that’s OK. I’m improving pretty quickly. My wife is even getting into it and we are going to do a couple covers soon with our grandkids. To anyone that is learning and playing. Keep going. Don’t be afraid to post. We can all learn something and support each other.

I thought it was a better review than many reviewers on YT, in terms of content. Right before you said you were rambling was very informative. With virtual drum software, you can remap the drums. Speaking and playing-wise, could be improved. You should tell your guitarist he needs to turn it down a little, and bring up his vocs. Also, put some cornbread on that singing - not necessarily a lot, but some, plus technique, can do wonders.

Great commentary. I play in a church band and use the DD-65 that belongs to someone who left the church so I don't know if it will disappear as well. I was looking at this for a replacement and it sounds like it would be great. I have had an issue with the 65 where if I am stepping on the high-hat peddle when turning it on, it is open when it should be closed and vice versa. I think the extra sounds and congo/bongo will be useful.

I'm nowhere in your league of skill, but I liked the way you demoed yourself actually playing the product "clean" instead of playing along with the Yamaha demos. Hi Aaron! Is very nice to see another owner of dd-75! :) I got mine for a cpl months ago, but i've experienced some serious problem with it, Maybe you can help me? The problem appears when i try to assign a HI-HAT (open/closed/pedal) notes to Ez-drummer's different hi-hat sounds (you use Superior Drummer, so im sure you know what im talking about). In my case there is absolutely NO WAY to get all THREE types of HI-HAT sounds. Only two of them! :/ wtf :( I bought this thing ONLY to play with ez-drummer, but now... its a nightmare :( Yes, there ARE 3 default hi-hat sounds in DD-75. But i just CANT reassing em to another midi notes! Every time i try to reassign hihat midi notes (or any other note) by turning the wheel, it instantly messes up the hi-hat and wont let me get 3 different (open/closed/pedal) sounds. Did u have anything like that? Ill be VERY grateful for any advice!! Thank you beforehand for the answer!! (I'll be checking this thread on a daily basis)

I'm probably going to end up buying the new kick pedal that they released for the dd75 just to see how it compares. It's kind of a pain carrying a kick power and a kick pedal, at least to me it is. Great review pal! Really informative. I've got the DD65 and I use it for recording and it's great because I live in a flat. I got one second hand and sometimes the snare skips out, is this something that you've found with this unit? I assumed it was just a fault with my unit.
@MesaMXR
@MesaMXR 7 жыл бұрын
Sounds like it could be an issue with the piezo sensor going to the snare pad. You may wanna open up the unit and see if the sensor is glued to the pad sufficiently as the other ones are. I think it's very likely that it's something on your unit only, unless you're playing super lightly.

Can you set the sensitivity individually for each of the pads? I think the DD-65 had a global control.

How do you get that cool bass drum pedal upgrade?

It's a Roland kick pad with DW 3000. However I just got a Roland KT-10 that I like a lot better. Check that one out

Bro how much the price for the kick?
@MesaMXR
@MesaMXR 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you get. I recently got a Roland KT-10 for like 180 used. It's a kick trigger with an integrated beater. Not honestly you can use pretty much any electronic kick trigger on the market. There's a billion of them at all price points

How did you connect the roland kick pad? Thanks
@MesaMXR
@MesaMXR 7 жыл бұрын
It just uses a standard 1/4 inch jack that pretty much any kick pad on the market uses, be it Yamaha, Roland, Simmons, whatever.

Aaron Loves Gear hello! I got another question. How can I get a different pedal? Like yours for example.
@MesaMXR
@MesaMXR 7 жыл бұрын
Well the kick pedal being used here is a Roland KP-8 with a DW 3000 kick pedal, although I also have the Yamaha KP-65 which also works well. I have the Yamaha HH-65 pedal as well but it's not pictured here since I didn't own it at the time. Both of those things can be found on eBay or something pretty easily if you wanna save some money.

Diógenes Catunda i am kinda curious too? I guess maybe not, because it is so cheap.. Even rim shots have several sounds in different areas of the snare, which i guess even the highest dtx still unable to simulate perfectly
