Dude, I bought the first one and this model. It's been in my studio in a case and is basically NOS! It makes me smile everytime I turn it on! Good video. Yamaha is STUPID for not bringing it back as a reissue... new and improved!

I had one of these I bought used from guitar center and had a ton of fun with it, back when I had dreams of being the next big hip hop producer. I cant play piano but I still made a ton of cool beats on this and was able to kinda mix on the fly to change things up. It did feel like a toy after a minute even to someone like me with no real musical skill, so I can see why it wasn't a huge hit. I have heard that the first one was more serious and this one was more do all. Still a cool concept.

Brilliant find for only £40! Great fun could be had from sampling the loops and sounds from this into BM3 for arranging and mixing with other stuff. Cool little keyboard!

I bought mine in K Town, Germany in the year 2000. I haven't jammed on it for years. I used to have my apartment complex rockin. I have not seen a video yet worthy. I can't play keyboard however, my hip hop style allowed me to really freak out on the ydjx2. I pulling it out and dusting it off. #NewInspiration

I had one of these years ago and loved it. Now I am a self teaching entry level DJ and have just found one on ebay for £70, can’t wait to get it as they’re is literally allsorts I can do with this linked 2 my decks. great video doug (as always) but you know i like a break from ipad stuff on your channel :) about 5 yrs ago i just chucked mine in a skip and id inherited it from a friend who didnt want it and he knew id a massive collection,but a few months after id first played with it a while just seeing what it could do etc, plugged it in and the sound stage had died and i didnt know anyone locally fix it before i get lynched lol, wish i still had it now as prices will go up on ebay etc after this vid lol, keep up the great work buddy :)

gimble I sold mine too. Needed the cash and I think my Fx switch was broken on mine. Had a ton of fun with it although in those days I didn’t know half as much as I do know about music.

yeah bud, like i said i sort of inherited it in the first place as my friend hadnt used it in years and was gonna just throw it out, so i obv took it and like i said had a mess around with it then took it out a few months later and was faulty, im ancient btw for example ive owned my dx7 since new in 84 lol and cant move for stuff, my newest two are a modx 8 and a genos , cant move for hardware lol :)

Yeah, I just got one for the same amount, it had been left for dead apparently and required some TLC. Thanks for the great video, maybe adjust the volume for your voice a little louder next time. I had to turn up the volume on the speakers to hear you and now everything else is too loud! :-) I'm very excited to own one of these, just discovered they exist, so this is all super fun for me. And yeah, this is more of a demo than a tutorial but I've learned a few things from it. So thanks much!

just got a yamaha djx1..how do you realtime record..it keeps adding a beat over my recording...since 94 i have used an akai mpc, usually i pull up a drum program, record the drum pattern to track one, then go to track two and lets say record the high hats, then ill move over to track three and record a few bass notes, then ill copy lets say sequence three to sequence four then make new changes to that track for variation so on and so forth..but this yamaha djx is kinda different, its in realtime recording mode and the part and pattern controls are off...when i hit record a beat plays over the drums that im trying to tap out...can you please help me silence that beat..thank you,your amazing

Sorry to say they removed midi out for the keys in v2 to make it cheaper, v1 had midi out

Can the yamaha djxII be used as a midi controller, using the filters on the djxII to control the other synth/module? with keyboard velocity?

I have the DJX and this one since the day they were released ...still use them ..still love them ...although this one was such a downgrade from the first one IMO ...but still love them both !

I'm real curious about how this is downgrade. I have the DJX-1 and I had heard that 2 was a downgrade....but based on everything I've seen....I must be missing it. Regardless, I have a DJX-2 coming next week so I;ll soon see.

I'll tell you guys something....I bought one of those LaunchPad Pro not knowing that it didn't have a sound engine (I know, I know) I'm just not in to DAWs. Anyway the Launchpad Pro has never been used. I'm gonna sell it on Reverb real cheap. I'm listing it as Brand New (as it's still in the boxing, everything) but discounting it ~20. Just saying if you guys are looking for an interfsce to that Ableton. Otherwise, get funky with the DJX - It's dated, of course....but we rock out sh*t in those days too. I'm fixing to start doing live performances with my DJX-1

I remember this as great synth idea but marketed completely wrong by Yamaha. Looked too amateurish for professionals, lacked basic MIDI functionality form the era and was too intimidating for amateurs.

Years ago I had this thing called the mix me DJ. It was basically a toyified groove boxthat had really crusty samples and a dirty greate big speaker. And... it looks like the company behind it massively stole sounds and patterns from this and the IIB model. So half of this was just me going "hey I know that sound!"

I appreciate you putting this together...for anyone who is new to this, unfortunately, the video maker kind of jumps all over the place wihtout placing anything in to context. Now that I fully understand this synth., I see that he is basically going such as ":Let me show you something cool here...[starts to do it] "oh , yeah this is cool too" [shows something unrelated[. I am intimated with both versions of this synth, and in all candor, I could not keep up with what he was tying to explain. So...unfortunately, I am working on a true tutorial of the likes I was hoping to see but never could find. Again, I am not knocking this genteleman...but I simply cannot see how this is teaching ayone how to actually use it]/ And....becaude I am not the type fo critsize anything I cannot do myself...[sigh}.

Ay, it's vintage and classic to some people. Keyboards under £200 with onboard speakers are just about the only music kit I've ever owned and I've had a blast! Toy synths are the future.

The vl tone got into the pop charts with an annoyingly catchy tune.🤣 Not bad for a toy keyboard. Not to mention the stylophone legacy of David Bowie and kraftwerk 🤔🎶🤣
