Having the original DX7 I must say that this module is better than the original for recording purposes. The DX7 itself is noisy and hissy as you said. Of course playing the original is WAY nicer and you can much more fun! But this was amazing!

The SY99 is under appreciated and under-priced. DX7 originals are over-priced for what they are, on pure nostalgia. The DX7II-D and DX7II-FD are much better than the original DX7. I am considering modifying my DX7II-D to clean up its audio amp output stage, to get a nice clean level out of it. Either that, or an outboard preamp as the onboard line level amp is noisy as hell.

Excellent work! The DX7 tines was THE sound of mid-late 80s R&B music. Sooo many artists used it and the big producers Jam & Lewis, L.A. & Babyface etc. One of my favourite sounds. It's like Marmite - you either love it or hate it!

Fine work, as usual. Everyone must have their favourite DX ep song. I recall with affection a cover of Cosma's 'Sentimental Walk' (from the 80s french movie 'Diva') on fusion sax player Arthur Blythe's 1985 album 'Put Sunshine In It'. What seems apparent is that the delicate vaporous FM ep sound worked here where no other ep sound would have.

If you want me to, I could say "boo hoo", but man that would feel so fake for me. It even felt fake just typing that particular phrase. I mean, someone like me will only cry real tears when something brings me pain, whether physical or emotional. And believe me when I say, when I cry, I actually scream pretty hard. Something you probably don't wanna hear. Also, most of the time when I cry, I have snot runnin' down my nose. Believe me, you don't wanna see that! That music, my friend, and the way you play, especially those cool jazz chords, so smooth and soulful, only brings me lots of joy! Joy is what I'm made of!
