Yamaha Genos 2 - A nod to one of the most well known styles ever!

This is my nod to one of the most famous styles ever created. Copied by so many, this style has appeared in every instrument known to man - heck, im amazed my washing machine doesnt play this when it's finished it's spin cyle. Here's the latest version in Genos 2.

I had the style on my PSR9000 that I bought in 1999. Still have that arranger along with the now, original Genos.

I remember playing it on the PSR 2000 18 years ago. It had that lovely mandolin intro and ending.

Another great video, very nice playing! Since we are looking at a style, do you have a video on Genos 1 that can edit some of the rock and 8 beat styles to bring out more of the"pocket" type solid rhythms with less treble emphasis concentrating on the kick, toms etc.? thanks for a super demo! The Genos sound has changed. And it isn't the new reverb alone. They did something. Genos 1 had this very significant base. The bassdrum had this thump and all other sounds were without lowend crystal clear. This is gone. Now it sounds juiced together ... like someone said: Did they use an overall compressor? Where is the transparency gone? There is something done, very difficult to describe...

I Had an organ and heard a pan flute on the Lowrey which I had for a couple years, someone played Shepard song, I don’t remember the name with the pan flute instrument. 6:09

I’m sure that style was on Tyros 2 as I recall trying to help an elderly friend with his new acquisition. It’s no doubt a bit better now but was still very respectable on T2. I think I used to play The Summerwind to it - worked pretty well.

@@LeighWilbraham Thanks Leigh - think I need a memory stick inserted in my head. You may not believe it but we owned a PSR 8000 and now you remind me I recall using that style. Actually the old 8000 was a very good instrument apart from those silly little wheels under the screen for volume adjustments - they nearly always developed contact problems. I also recall the intro/ending on the English Waltz was nicer than later models. We bought the 8000 for £150 as it had slight damage - not serious. Sold it for £150. I saw one recently on EBay for £550. Bit optimistic but they are quite rare now. The styles on Yamaha’s AR 100 Organ were taken from the earlier PSR 7000. Pleased you’re attracting some very nice, and much deserved comments on the G2.

@@LeighWilbraham Helllo again Leigh - I’m always thankful that I too can play from memory - not quite as accurately as yourself but it is handy when listening to keyboard styles to be able to think of a suitable tune to put with them. As you were opening up the G2 styles I was thinking of tunes and then you came up with something different. We have a Tyros 5 with bass pedals - I actually following the instructions by yourself when getting the pedals connected. I don’t always use them but they’re handy during more ‘reflective’ times. The free play Brass Band style on T5 is disappointing and I noticed the improvement when you played the new G2 style. We have the Reg Rawlings Theatre samples which are nice with the bass pedal. I wondered if Organ World had bern left off G2 and also the 4 part harmony feature. Suppose Music Finder still features. Sorry to bang on - please forgive me. Best wishes
