Yeah, King Kenny all right. What he did and how he did it in the 1978 world 500cc championship stands out to me as the greatest feat ever seen in that series.

I've always said that, one machine that was not the latest spec, Good year tyres that had never been raced in in 500cc GP and he had to learn new circuits all the way, Sheene had a better bike that was even better from mid season and he still couldn't beat Kenny.

Calvin Rayborn was my favorite road racer of all times, but I'll have to admit that Kenny Roberts was the best of all times.

Just throwing this out there, I saw Kenny Robert’s at a Sears Point road race, I’m guessing ‘77, where he was on a 500 and everyone else were on 750s. He won.

True, between King Kenny , Lackey and Penhall they made a mark on the world of motorcycle racing for America in the 1970’s. But KR stands alone as a game changing pioneer.

Went to a national at Laguna Seca in late '70's. Think Kenny lapped every rider except second place. Hell he might have lapped him as well. Last lap he rode a wheelie around the entire course. Last lap not the victory lap. I thought it was a bit arrogant. I am sure i was just jealous as i watched him ride on his back wheel down through the cork screw and to the checkered flag. Even if he had fallen and broke the bike he was so far ahead of the rest of the field he could have pushed the bike over the finish line and still won.

And after going from last place to first place they banned the bike Ama did it . And I bet Harley-Davidson had something to do with that also
@budmiller74363 ай бұрын
If the Harleys can't beat it, change the rules so they have an advantage. If that's not enough, ban it. That's the AMA way. 👎
@bradpotter6401Ай бұрын
The bikes in AMA racing are supposed to be based on production models and Yamaha never had a four cylinder water cooled 2 stroke street bike available to the general public. When they allowed them in road racing, it drove all the other manufactures out of competing.
