This is the ultimate machine for pads… you’ll be able to create such intricate and complex pads, and no note drop. It’s what kept me say from the phantom which is otherwise seemingly a good synth.

@@charlesmaddox5042 I would take it if it was being given away. Even the MODX is a better synth. I can’t understand why they decided to go backwards with the creation of the Kronos. Perhaps the lead designer had a thing for the eighties.

This workstation is so sensibly designed super user friendly and easy to use. Best part is it has lots of controller and that can be super useful. Some people prefer to use touch screen and some prefer buttons it has both. Montage is already established and this one is perfect upgradable keyboard with minimal price increases and bunch of new sounds and unmatched control facilities. Love the ANX synth it sounds so fantastic. Overall it’s much better product then existing Montage and currently no other workstation can match to new Montage M series. Only thing I felt little bad that no polyphonic after touch on the 6/7 so surprised because now days musicians prefer portable products so obviously more selling keyboards are 6 & 7. I have a one question see if you know and you can answer me. My question is can II used Montage’s user sounds on this? Because this keyboard is way ahead than Montage so there must be so many changes in parameters and there are so many Montage users in the market and they can asked this questions. Nice demo…Love the keyboard. All the best to Yamaha and all the dealers for better business. Thank you 🙏 ❤

If we look at the system design of EX5 (from many years ago) and at Montage + its successors like this one, it tells a story about how Yamaha have moved from ground-up actual innovative end-to-end architecting of a proper multi-engine synth to a short-sighted, rigid, self-limiting thinking that keeps reappearing in these products. In 2023 there is no technical or cost reason (in context of what M is priced at) for not releasing such 'proper' & expandable multi-engine synth / workstation. Think of OASYS & Kronos from many years ago, or the Zen Core concept (Korg, and Roland, respectively). So here we are in 2023, another product with frankly astonishing rewriting of synth history (see other reviews calling accessible FM operators on UI "game changer" and "colossal", simply forgetting that 10+ years ago you could patch FM operators on touch screens in other workstation products; or calling 16 channel INT/EXT/both control routing again "game changer", forgetting what 2 decades ago others already did seamlessly and casually... and so on). If only we could have less hype from Yamaha, less rewriting of synth history, and instead focus on end-to-end system design - instead of adding one (old but updated) synth engine to 2 old (but updated) synth engines as something 'revolutionary'. Quick refresher: others had 9 eminently different complex synth engines under one bonnet, integrated into a cohesive architecture, many, many years ago. Since the superb FS1R that I was happy to own, Yamaha product roadmap seems to be spinning within its own outdated parallel Universe where decades-ago routinely used features and capabilities are heralded as groundbreaking in 'new' products, whilst it cannot (seemingly does not) want to break out of the non-technological (!) self-limiting shackles they imposed on themselves (from use of certain chipsets to current product decisions that are not rooted in any technical reason, and everybody else has been moving with the times). Listening and watching many reviews of new Yamaha "flagship" products is like being stuck in a strange parallel Yamaha universe where myriad key innovations and by now casually used major features from other names have never happened, and Yamaha comes along now with some stunning new idea. One must appreciate the audacity of the marketing department, but some do not suffer from short, not even long, term memory loss to fall for this hype.

@@Tigerex966 Indeed. If one has a proper look at the timeline of Yamaha products across portfolio segments, the illogical backward steps, inconsistencies, abandoned paths with excellent potential, arbitrary limitations are baffling - or hilarious in the best of cases. Ah well.

Great video! I really liked the choice in patches to demo this product. I am very critical of the Leslie modeling and have found that Ikmultimedia has done the best job so far. I have my Montage 7. I was ready to purchase the next gen as I have been a long time Motif user and went to the Montage. The significant disappointment to me, more than anything, is Yamaha's retaining the TFT screen with this new release. This is a deal killer for me. I dislike, intensely, TFT screens. I was willing to upgrade to the Montage by 2019, but the dreaded TFT screen was cumbersome and imprecise for me. I have to process this one, mentally, and see if I can justify the upgrade.

What's wrong with a TFT touch-screen? What do you expect from anything else? A pretty woman to soothe away your aches and pains lol.
@CaliforniaCreedence
@CaliforniaCreedence Жыл бұрын
@@theintrancer1910 Do you own a Montage? TFT screens are less precise, are not flexible in angle of view, and could benefit from contrast control, but the Montage does not have that option. This is why you saw videos emerge in 2017 on how to connect (not just an external display but a touchscreen) touchscreen display to overcome the limitations imposed by the Montage 7” TFT display. Gigging musicians (which I am) were most affected by the poorly made display. Many of us owners who gig, agree. Again, I am still processing this opinion.

There's a campaign to shame Yamaha for lack of PAT on 6/7 could be for the next 7 years & pushing only the M8 in most demos. I ordered the M6 because I have (2) MPE+ Osmose units & the ASM Hydrasynth with PAT but even so Yamaha is pushing this GEX when without it the cost would have been the same $500 upcharge for each unit. Most player can't carry or afford the M8 yet Yamaha flaunts the M8 like shaming customers for not buying that model. Not saying the paid demo people are but they also can't be objective when getting paid. The shame is all on Yamaha for cheapening products and cheating customers &/or forcing them to go big for a better feature. I've purchased and owned almost every Yamaha synth/arranger in the last 30 years so I'm not from the other side taking cheap shots, I am the Yamaha customer base paying their bills. I've repaired hundreds of Yamaha synths and personally soldered thousands of their tact switches like on the SY series alone. I can speak that this was a really sad and pathetic option to cheat customers when Yamaha is the Godzilla of innovation and sound. Very embarrassing Yamaha and to be very clear a "Pianist" doesn't need PAT nearly as much as a "Synthist" or "keyboardist" does per your own advertising terminology.
