I do have a "Yamaha MX49" (for Motif Sounds) and I am using it together with a "Roland Fantom-06" (for the Jupiter, Juno, D-50, TR-drum-machines, sounds, etc....). That is a perfect combination of sounds, because every of both keyboards has its own special sound characteristic. And on top of these, there is also a "Yamaha Reface DX", for the FM Sounds. All together are perfect for the Sound of the 80`s and 90`s. And that is wonderful !! 👍👍

Nice to have a review from a player rather than a sequencer operator. This sounds very much like an update and, possibly, improvement on my Yamaha S30 I had back in the 00s. Keys made of cheese, but just as good as the overpriced red board favoured by trustafarians for jams and more.

Hi, thank you. I own a Yamaha S90 ES, which still sounds very good, esp piano and EP. I’m using it at my studio, because it’s pretty heavy. I agree with the overpriced red boards, I had two of them and sold them both. There are so many good alternatives right now. To my taste, Yamaha is best for piano sounds and Roland for synths, even if I don’t like their policy (the cloud etc) or some silly construction design. Also what I like of Yamaha is that there is a consistency in quality.

Hi Darryl, thanks for stopping by. I don’t have the CK61, I saw demos on YT. In my opinion, these are different types of keyboards. The CK is more focused on live performance, it’s the little brother of the YC 61. The MX61 is an entry-level workstation. The CK has built-in speakers (great for acustic rehearsals and songwriting), the MX61 doesn’t. The MX also does not run on batteries. The action is probably better on the ck model. I understand that the CK cannot playback midifiles and wav files. You need to see how much this is important to you. With the MX61 you can also control the DAW of your computer. You don’t have this feature on the CK, however the CK too can turn into an interface like the MX. So basically a lot depends on your needs. I am using the MX61 when I have rehearsals or performances in small stages, where the piano does not play a main role. And not because of the sound, but because the keyboard is very light and it’s not easy to play piano cleanly on that. I bought mine for € 550, now here in Europe the prices are €699 for the MX61 and €999 for the CK61. I hope I was of some help.

@marcofacchinmusic11 ай бұрын
Ciao Mark, grazie.

If all you're looking for is a VERY portable keyboard that is suitable for open jams and other meaningless gigs, I recommend the Casio CT-S500, which is only $349. Don't pay $800 or whatever the Yamaha goes for. The Casio has less processing power (because it has two speakers and because of the cost I'm sure), but I'm consistently able to layer two sounds to fit the cover song that I'm trying to replicate. The MX61 is a little higher fidelity, but in the mix with bass, drums, etc it doesn't really matter. The Casio CT-S500 is also a little bit smaller than the MX61. You can hold it like a book and take it to your gig with a cheap little $15 sustain pedal in your back pocket. And, if you get mugged, you're only out of $349. LOL! Both of these keyboards have light 'synth action' keys. If you want the highest quality sounds then buy something better than either one of these cheap boards. For strictly piano, you can't beat the rich sound of the Yamaha P125 B at $700.
@marcofacchinmusic6 ай бұрын
you cannot compare apples with pears. The Casio is cheaper because it does a lot of less stuff than the MX61. The sound quality might not matter to you, but it does to me. I am pretty sure the Casio does not have patches of theMODx, which the MX61 does have. It maybe that it does not make a difference in you band's mix, but in mine, it does. Of course a Yamaha digital Piano is not much more expensive, but we are talking about two very distinct keyboards, it is so obvious that we don't even need to mention it. I'm actually saying it in the video that the MX61 is a good match for a live gig if you already have a bigger workstation or a piano. Summing up, I don't really understand what's your point

@marcofacchinmusic Жыл бұрын

Marco does it have a rock guitar sound?
@marcofacchinmusic3 ай бұрын
Hi Jack, yes it does have some rock gt sounds, but honestly guitar tones are not good on keyboards because you don't have muck dynamic and you cannot imitate the pick, both for strumming or rhythmical phrases. You can use some of them, i.e. I used a nylon guitar sound live for a theatre project and that was good. You can use some of the clean sounds for an arpeggio, maybe play a short lick or play one part in a song where guitar is not the main instrument, but that's it. You cannot expect to replicate a famous gt riff. I play guitar very basic, I can play some chords, power chords or easy melodies. I prefer to do that and do some edit instead of playing it with keyboard.

Hey Karl, some of them do loose indeed a bit of low end when using the mod wheel, although not every time does the MW trigger the leslie. Anyway, I'd say the organ sound are all right, but not top notch. I too like here the EPianos. I also use the bass a lot (in studio) and the pads. As said, for its price it offers quiet a lot of excellent sounds
