I am not a retailer nor work for Yamaha or any other brand. I have tried and owned other DPs in this category. The P 515 is the best. Bad reviews are from people who do not know how to adjust the voice settings. I only use it for Classical / Bosendorf mode. The factory setting does not do justice to it. Use the function button to crank the volume to it's max 127, brightness up to your taste and (light 2) touch sensitivity from preset 64, I am using 76. This will already turn the sound from water to wine. Every adjustment done under "function" will be memorized after turning the piano off, but you have to enable this capability. See page 105 from the manual. Under the "piano room" button some settings are also memorized. I also set my Eq with -5 bass, +6 mid, +4 treble. If you don't like this DP, you will not like any other.

I'm based in Japan, have played the CFX Grand twice now and for the price point I don't think you can beat this at all if you enjoy the Yamaha sound and want a 'close' digital attempt at it. 515 is pleasant to play for me. NWX is nice.

I don’t get the compliments. This thing sounds amazing. The CFX sounds very good, and that Bose sample was very warm sounding. I’ve noticed (at least with players I speak to personally) that many who complain about the Yamaha digitals haven’t actually played a real Yamaha Grand. Yamaha’s real grand pianos are quite bright in sound. That CFX sample sounded pretty darn good (very close to the real model).

This is meant as cheaper, not quite portable but more easily transportable, alternative for a Baby Grand or Upright Piano for home use by advanced Classical and Jazz piano students, with the "stage piano" features tacked on as an afterthought to add to the allure at the storefront. In truth most of its main intended audience will only ever use the CFX and Bösendorfer presets for home study. For what it was built for this one is pretty hard to beat.

I am left with only one question; If one records an original piece on P-515 can it be converted/showned with chord chart recogition afterwards? An amazing instrument. If I were a nitpicker, and I am, the only thing I didn't like was the USB-A and USB-B ports (in 2018). USB-C all-round for the next model please, especially now that iPads (and everything else) are moving to USB-C.

How to fix yamaha p45, working for how many minutes and then automatically play demo songs and i can't remove it even pressin the grand piano button every key has a different song that plays, when I turned off the piano I tried to turn it on but the red light is blinking. I tried to factory reset it many times, sometimes the blinking stops and will work for a few seconds/minutes and then it will automatically play demo songs again and when I turn it off again, the red light beside the power button blinks

David, if you're just playing for fun and with a choir the DGX 660 is perfect for what you're looking for. The DGX 660 has been used by thousands of people for the past several years for at home practice and for gigs, it's a great piano. I have been playing piano for 15 years and am going to splurge on the P515, but if you're looking for something to play for fun and in groups, the DGX-660 is awesome. Save your $$$ unless you are extremely passionate about the piano and want the absolute best portable piano you can buy. The DGX-660 is a beast in itself and an awesome keyboard with great speakers. You'll be glad you got it!

So what am I suppose to do if I get such an error on Smart pianist when trying to connect it exactly like you to the piano (from exactly like your iPad): "Warning. Failed to connect to instrument.Connecto to the instrument after ending operations on instrument such as Song playback or recording." There is NOTHING going on on my iPad except the smart pianist. I personally have a Samsung Galaxy Tablet and even though there is a download for Smart Pianist in the Google Store, the application is not compatible with it. I was told I will have to wait until June 2019 for an update in order to be able to use it :/

How does one control volume when using an organ voice? With piano, it is the degree to which the key is struck. No so with organs. Organs have a swell pedal. Is there any provision for this?

Although the Yamaha P515 does not allow a volume or expression pedal to be directly connected, you could use a stereo volume pedal (such as the Boss FV-500L) to control organ swell. You'd take the stereo line outputs of the P515, run them into the volume pedal, and run the output of the volume pedal to your amplifier or sound system. This scenario would also apply if you were using an external sound system and bypassing the P515's internal speakers. Thanks for watching! -Dave

The problem with that comparison is both pianos are used for two different thing like the Yamaha P515 is ment to be more of a grand piano by that I mean it’s bigger it’s heavy and it’s more of a sit at home piano that’s why it sounds so top notch.Now far as the Yamaha cp88 that’s more of a move around piano it’s ment more for studio or gigs that’s why it has more of a pop music feel to it’s far as the Yamaha P515 it has that classical/jazz music vibe to it so it all wires down to you.
