Man, I grew up on this keyboard. Learned almost every musical skill and concept I know today because my mother had this in the house. Excellent piece of work, much easier to use than it looks (despite all the buttons), and EXTREMELY customizable. I loved being able to re-write the auto-accompaniment tracks and pre-load so many settings into memory.

My sentiments exactly! This keyboard transformed my world. The drum samples were incredible for a consumer model, and I rarely find a general MIDI 89 Fantasia sample that competes with this one. This video is making me tear up, hearing all of the factory presets again. I'm glad someone else understands. : )

Same here. I think this keyboard alone is the reason I ended up actually studying pianos/keyboards on an academic level. Now 20 years later, I'm trying to use the knowledge pull even more out of that "toy".

Just last week I was walking home from the store and saw this keyboard sitting next to the garbage. It was raining and when I picked it up water poured out. I gave it a day to dry, found a plug and it started right up! Looking forward to learning piano on it.

The people who threw it away did not know what they had. These keyboards are beginning to be sought after

It's disgusting the way some people treat musical instruments, just because a keyboard is old doesn't mean it's bad. I hope your still enjoying your Yamaha PSR-510.

Good find. I paid $350 or so new for one when Best store was still around.. mid 90s
@AmyAndThePup8 ай бұрын
Oh! I can't believe they just threw it away like that! And that's how you know tech was built right--when even rain can't slow it down :) I love hearing stories of instruments being rescued like this, and I sincerely hope you're still enjoying it.

When I got mine in the late '90s, I was told it was worth $800. I got mine used for $300 or so, and I felt it was truly a bargain. No idea what it would sell for now. I'm not selling though. I love this keyboard, and as a blind person, I find its layout and lack of menus for most functions a God-send. The problem with keyboards (maybe just since this one?) is that their screens became huge, and everything is in menus. Not blind-friendly.

just found this in my mums loft my gran gave it to me when i was 10 and wasnt interested because i played guitar had no idea how good it was. 20 years later and it still works fine cant wait to get the teeth into it. just started a sound production course cant believe my luck

Of course, you have the five track standalone recording ability. However, as you may know, you can also customise the accompaniment section, giving you even more tracks then you can play the other five over them to give you a lot more tracks. That is a very good vintage keyboard and I proudly owned the big brother, the PSR 2700 which I liked very much and it had on board a fantastic sampler.

I have this keyboard since 1994. Still discovering all the possibilities. I especially like the two buttons, for "Intro" and "Ending". On many keyboards is just one for both functions. You can also start with the ending and than play on. Or you can repeat "Intro" for let's say three times - I often use that - without it stoppin the playing. And last but not least: the revoice possibilities!

@AzimuthProductions1 Yes the style is called "Detroit Pop" and I didn't show the PSR-510 in my entry level and mid range keyboards collection video because I didn't have the PSR-510 keyboard at the time. If you see my PSS-390 Part 2 video, I did an update to my keyboards collection showing the recently bought PSR-510 at the time. Thanks for watching!

For anyone inquiring about the classical piano piece (demo #3), it is Piano Concerto in A minor by Edvard Grieg.
@KeyboardKrazy498 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I wasn't able to show that demo as at the time my videos could only be 15 mins long, now I can do uploads longer than 15 mins so sorry I wasn't able to do that demo as that was a long demo and showing all of them would exceed more than 15 mins. Thanks for your comments on this keyboard this is quite a good piece of kit and thanks for watching my videos! :)

It's crazy how much different the psr500 timing ( absolutely loose as anything ) and the 510 (really stable timing) differ. They must have been very close in time, must've put a much better cpu in the 510 it seems. EDIT oh excellent they put the sequencer where you could see the measures - like the pss 790 - which probably means you can drop in. Love that on the 790 and it seemed crazy that the 500 sequencer couldn't do that.

For all my love of the 510, I find the instruments aren't as accurate as in the 520, 530, 540, for example, probably to do with when they were first made. I'm not sure of the exact years, just that by 1997 the 510 was discontinued in the US, and when I got my 540 in 2004 it had been discontinued since about 2001. I prefer the 540 for accurate instrumentation, but I find I can't use it as easily. Menus again.

All I can think off is that its such an old keyboard, it may need to be connected to an older computer, I dont really use MIDI that much to connect it to a computer, I do very rarely though, So I'm guessing it might need to be connected to an older computer as its an old keyboard. Hope this helps :)
