I ran my first 9s yesterday on a stock wheel base k8 GSX-R1000. Running 9s is a very hard thing, you have to do everything right. I've been trying for 3 years to get that 9s

Odd, because the older 98-2003 r1's ran 10.20 quarter mile because they had no rider safety computer restrictions. They were all driver skill. Even the 04-08 were capable of 9.88. Funny part is that the 03 (I own one) has only 152 hp. Mine makes about 170 after full exhaust and Power Commander dyno tune, so if I ran wheelie bars I'd likely run a faster quarter than the R1M because it's old school bike with the only electronics being it's fuel injection. The whole reason I bought an 03 is because I grew up on bikes without power modes and anti-wheelie tech. The only tech I don't mind is ABS, you can keep the rest.

I ran a 10.21 time on a 2004 R1 back in 2009, and it was my first time on a drag strip. Third run of the night and got that 10.21.

Well done boys !!! Congrats on hitting the sub 10 sec 1/4 mile. Now you need to shatter that R1M with the new Ducati V4....lol The video is very well done btw.

Thanks, Don. Paul put a lot of time into it, so we're glad you like it. Chad was pretty pooped too, but we don't feel as bad for him - he got to ride a sweet bike all day!

Well done. It takes a bit of getting used to launching these bikes. Back in 2009 I achieved a 10.21 on my 2004 Yamaha R1. Completely stock. Although I was very light back then, about 65kg. I’m curious, what is your weight? And did you use launch control?

That's nice of you to say! We are still in the experimentation phase of our video-making experience, squeezing in shoot times in between busy days at the bike shop. We're hoping that, as we get more practice, that we'll be able to increase our output and our subscribers.

Bikes way slower using launch control. Tested it loads on mine much quicker doing it manually due to lift control

Is there enough HP to go faster? Is it just traction loss that makes it difficult?
@MasterKeyMagic3 жыл бұрын
Im wondering the same thing because older R1's could get in the high 9's and they had less HP
@GyroPyro1212123 жыл бұрын
There is, but it’s no easy task. All these new super bikes are so powerful that launching them without pulling a hard wheelie or bogging is dancing a fine line. It is very easy to loop them so getting an ideal launch is tough.

My my how times change... it seems like these once unbeatable acceleration machines (1000cc superbike) has hit a brick wall, a real road worthy version even with it over 200hp now struggle to get into the 9s, it's been like that for nearly 15 years, and thats on a drag strip... once unthinkable just a few short years ago but even base mass production supercars are now quicker in acceleration, 1/4 mile and even roll ons, imagine putting the new 765LT against this on a drag strip, it'd annihilate it. On another note before snobs come out and say something like 'oh spend $5k on mods the bike would be in the 8s', number 1 you probably need to spend more than that, number 2 if you stretch the bike, dodgy tyres, swingers change etc then you'll have a bike that's technically still 'road legal' but in reality it's not ideal for the streets and cornering so yes we are hitting a brick wall with this superbike form factor.

If I'm paying $400,000 for a car, it better beat a $20,000 bike on the 1/4
@1010thechamp3 жыл бұрын
@@jermainepearson6835 Not really... the bike is 1/15th of the car's mass so inherently the car will cost 15 times more in theory and of course we all know bikes use to dominate acceleration even compared to hypercars in the past so engineering wise its kore of a feat for a base supercar now to be quicker in acceleration than 1000cc Superbikes even the best of them.
@MrLeeson6603 жыл бұрын
Your right on the 1/4 but rolling disagree. The 70-150mph on a well sorted 1000 is still way ahead. And the experience zero comparison
@1010thechamp3 жыл бұрын
@@MrLeeson660 So 70-150mph a stock M1000RR would beat a Rimac Nevera?
@MrLeeson6603 жыл бұрын
@@1010thechamp that's not a mass produced supercar is it. That's like saying a drag bike is faster than the Rimac it's a completely different point. Fact is you put a strong 1000cc against almost any supercar from 70-150 it pastes it.
