I appreciate you for letting people know about the facts. I went from Duke 200 to R15 V3 and though the engine is very refined and smooth and fuel efficiency is outstanding, the low down punch is totally lacking.

@@bhaskaR1 but the advantage of higher displacement and bhp is that it can be tuned accordingly. A better compromise can be struck between acceleration and top speed. If they increase the primary gear ratios on D200 it may sacrifice the 0-100 kph by around .5 to 0.75 seconds, which is still quicker than R15's 0-100 and it will pay off with a 6-7 kph higher top speed. However they don't do that because the D200 is a track machine, especially the rc200. I have been to track days where no one can match their lap times. As they say there is no replacement for displacement.

@@centaursam7254 brother I own both '16 rc 200 and r15 v3 bs4.. I've done acceleration tests for both (not speedo but gps) and acceleration to ton was 8.9sec for rc and 9.8sec for v3. There was around 1sec diff to 100.. but that diff is more in 0-60kmph and the credit goes to shorter gearing of rc. And to clear you that rc200 and d200 also don't have the mid range punch and bottom end is also weak.. it's just the shorter gearing given intentionally by KTM that makes compensation for low bottom end. And also the rc achieves it's 90% of top speed more quicker (~125kph) than that of r15 v3. Also I agree with you for phrase: no replacement for displacement.

Hello Ayush. I am afollower of your channel since the beginning and love your videos. I just want to educate you on one thing. I study engines mechanics of bikes and cars. So I don't agree with your statement that yamaha didn't do any rocket science on this bike and you also mentioned that it has tall gearing. Both these are false. The science behind this bike's top speed is not gearing but VVA technology. Because this bike don't have over squared engine which is why low end is not punchy. It is just a squared engine(bore and stroke are similar). And when it comes to gearing, look at the speed of other bikes in 160-200 cc category at certain RPM (let's say around 6000rpm). If you check the speed of this r15 bike at 6000rpm in 6th gear, it is less when compared to other bikes in 160-200cc bikes in their top gear. It is VVA which pushes it to 11000+rpm on this bike while other bikes struck at just 9.5-10k rpm. Hope it helps!

Very well explained. Even I keep doing research on automobile engines and their working and have gathered few points...yamaha has shown a good engineering sence on this bike..it is so balanced in terms of performance its mileage its top end ..and that to with a linear power delivery..these days it has become so difficult to maintain high cc bikes because of the fuel prices...so thats the reason this bike id doing so well ..being a sports bike it gives a good fuel economy ..and at times if you want it even becomes Agile anf touches maximum top speed....

But sometimes I'd just like to imagine what it would be like if Yamaha did a 155 cc inline twin with an offset cylinder design just like that of the r3. Stock Pulsar RS200 goes to about 10.5K rpm and top speed is about 145km/hr but as soon as we change the sprocket setup it touches 160km/hr. Gearing/Sprocket plays vital role in top speed runs and acceleration, And talking about VVA it just gives you extra power after 7.5k rpm by increasing the combustion rate and makes mid and top end strong and further stretching the revv range by 500-600rpms when compared to normal bikes without VVA, Still not a rocket science, It's good but I've seen bikes performing even better without VVA.

You told r15 top speed is less than other 160 _200cc category ,in top gear reall! .r15 square short stroke cylinder, r15 has compression ratio of 11.6:1 thats why liquid cooling is necessary & it produces more bhp , & high rev range since it is a lower cubic capacity bike .pulsar 220 has compression ratio of 9.5:1 two valve oil cooled or air cooled engine produces more torque than r15 due to its cubic capicity bt that doesn't mean we should only compare on the basis of cubic capacity . & costs cheaper than r15 .r15 has tall gearing ,& higher rev range due to vva ,.in vva below 7500 rpm only two valves are functional after that all 4 valve actuate ,so it leads in better intake , combustion & exaust .for example diesel engine doesnot have higher rev range bt it manages higher top speed due to its ,gearing setup &( torque for momentum ).mt has bigger sprocket so it has lower top speed ,....... It is a game of gearing bt yamaha made a over all package & nailed in terms of looks bt higher top speed does not mean its better & other are shit ,for thrill or feel torque & low end matters

i was always in the favor of a better torque rather than high bhp, . and torque makes ride more fun.. i never felt anything while riding r15 , it's grunt feels as same as ordinary 150cc category, ..i can't achieve top speed easily, it need a 2km long stretch..
