yamaha raptor 90 belt & primary gear change

Changing the belt on a 2009-2013 raptor & kfx 90 with the eton motor. this video also shows how the primary drive gear is taken out & disassembled.

HOLDING THE FOOT REST
5- phillip head screws with 10mm nuts
4- 10mm bolts
HOLDING THE COVER
1- 7mm hose band (remove hose)
8- 8mm bolts holding the cover
2- dowl pins in the cover (maybe get stuck in the motor)
FRONT GEAR
1- 17mm nut (33ft-lb torque spec)

How many hours would you say that the belts last??? Do you think one of these would pull a 60" grass cutter?

Can't really tell because it all depends on the rider. If the cutter is heavey I wouldn't recommend it as it will burn through the belt and possibly damage the clutch surface that the belt rides on

Hey mate I have got a ktm 50 pro senior it has power band I have oil coming out from the join of the power band and exhaust u got any ideas why? I’ll send a pic of where it comes out

The last piece you removed before you reversed the process, was there a washer on the inside at that point? Im putting mine back together but theres a washer that basically covers up those teeth so i cant actually set the piece back to where it needs to be. I tried it without the washer but it just winds up super tight.

I can't remember since it was so long ago but if you go on pattzilla or any oem parts place and type in the bike along with going to the pulley area for parts they have diagrams which can point you in the right direction in how it goes back together

What was the atv doing before u made this video? I have same quad and my is turn over with a slipping horrible grind sound of course not even to turn over n fire up quad. Let me know where I can send u small video so u can tell me if yours was doing the same. Much appreciated

My fly wheel nut wont come off. any suggestions? I notice your wheel doesn't turn when you wrench it. Mine turns too freely and the drill just turns the entire engine..

Beau Gilliard that have a special tool to hold the primary but I imagine you can use a gear holder (vise grips that has a chain attached) or possibly a ratchet strap so you can hold that while using an impact on the nut

I tore into the same atv can’t find where this stainless washer goes somewhere on the crankshaft between electric start gear or primary clutch, would you know by a chance?

Really hard to say without seeing the washer. U can go on partzilla and use their parts diagrams to make sure everything is where it's suppose to be. Should be under starter section

We just got the 2018 model. And i checked the speed yesterday and it topped out at 34kmh. Got the governor removed and the throttle pretty much all the way out. It's gotta go faster right??

Anyone else having a hard time playing the video? Stops at 30sec and can't get it to play. Need to change out the starter clutch :(

Already tried that and deleting the cache without any luck. Was still able to get to the starter clutch! When putting it back together, is the primary sheave supposed to pinch/fit super snug against the belt? Thanks for the help!

Make sure your air filter is clean first! It may fix your problem. They didn't have a diagram 2010 but here's one for a 2009. #15 I guess it's a air screw so screw out instead of in. www.motosport.com/dirtbike/oem-parts/yamaha/2009/ttr50/carburetor

If you take off any speed restrictions then yes. Set it up how this one is in the video and make sure you have full play of the throttle without the gouvener screw hitting the thumb throttle

I just had to do that to my son's belt and replace the part with all the little balls. actually that whole assembly. well I got it back together and within a month or so the belt just got chewed up. do you have an idea why or what I may have done wrong. I did learn from your video to press the clutch in to get the belt in easier

Doug Creech It sounds like the 2 clutch wheels aren't aligned right or the idle is set too high. Could you possibly have forgotten a washer while reassembling the primary?

Ilmari Kuuminainen uhh this video isn't about making it faster....... but there is a speed collar in there as mentioned in the video that will give you some more speed. Also there's a governor screw sticking out of the thumb throttle box. unscrew it and that will give you more top end. you're welcome

Hi Brandon I pulled mine apart but I pulled the rest of the gear off right to the back of it and I have left over washers something's not right do u reckon you could take yours off in a video for me so I know exactly where to put these pieces cause it starts up but when I put the side case back on with the kickstarter in it it jams the motor
