someone was selling exactly this model on FB marketplace for $25 and your video was really the only information I could find about it (thank you for posting!). I bought it today and I LOVE it so much! I have never played piano before and I just taught myself the opening to the Pink Panther theme! Truly an adorable and gentle instrument!

I can only hope that it's somehow the very same one I was selling all those years ago that has made it's way to you. I wish I still had it. Bravo on your self-instruction. Keep up the good work.

As cool as it is, the 70s was close to the tail end of the downfall of the reed organ where it was only a shell of what it once was when they were beautiful, very well built with not a single piece of plastic, had multiple ranks of reeds so multiple reeds sounded when you hit one key, octave couplers, more keys, were foot pumped requiring no electricity, and could be as small as your yamaha or large with multiple manuals and pedal board. That yamaha was one of the best you could get at the time since most were made cheap like those all plastic chord organs but I was lucky enough to get one of the better chord organs as my first organ which wasn't as good as your yamaha before finding my dominion reed organ from the early 1900s being given away. Now the melodica and indian harmoniums never built to the standard of old reed organs that can be rebuilt are mostly what we have left today. This yamaha one is closer to a melodeon which has the same form factor and one rank of reeds but those use to be much larger, foot pumped and sometimes had 2 manuals.

They still build them in China. Danfeng of Shanghai is probably the last surviving pedal reed organ maker, Shanghai Piano factory still makes them as late as 1999 before discontinuing it, the Danfengs aren't as good as the Shanghai ones I played, but its what we can have. The Danfeng cost like $310 new in China, for the money it wasn't worthwhile to spend months to fix an old one even it is better.
