Idk why people hate the toy piano, I think it’s genius and adds to the versatility and uniqueness of this retro product. Can’t wait for mine!

I've watched a fair few video about the reface CP and this one definitely is the least snobby about the toy piano setting. I also liked the inventive demonstration of it! A+

Reface CP + A nice keyboard controller = Great gigging instrument. Wouldn't it be great if they made all the Reface keyboards in rack versions without keys?

It sounds like a retarded idea but I've heard better demos where they pile on the effects and actually get some cool atmospheric sounds out of the toy piano.

@@EMDEEW Unfortunately not, it was months ago and I've got no idea which of the hundreds of videos it was. Most people just flick it to Toy Piano for a few seconds and think "what the hell" and change it to something else. I watched a lot demos before I eventually bought one, I still love it.

Yes you can - I use my Roland JV 90 as the controller for this gem. MIDI out from the JV, MIDI in with the Reface, output to amp. Works perfectly.

The clavinet does not pluck the string. The hammer pinches the string between the rubber tip and the anvil under the string. A harpsichord is plucked but not a clavinet. Why doesn’t he know that?

I have to laugh when I see how far this Yamaha presenter is going to not mention the actual instruments these things are modeled after: "Rhodes", "Wurly", etc. Some licensing/copyright thing? Everyone knows that these are Rhodes and Wurlys... and the Clavinet by Hohner... I wonder why Yamaha is deliberately avoiding naming the actual instruments, on the unit itself, and in demonstrations.
@peepeeland8 жыл бұрын
Companies can't trademark sound types or sonic qualities of an instrument, but product names are all trademarked. If that weren't the case, after Fender released the Rhodes piano, there could've been Yamaha Rhodes, Kawai Rhodes, Baldwin Rhodes, etc., weakening the Rhodes brand. So even though there are tons of Rhodes software emulations (and even hardware copies), the "Rhodes" brand is still strong and iconic, due to (the proper and non-troll) usage of trademark laws. Actually, if there were no trademark (and patent) laws, any company could release a 100% Fender Rhodes piano copy, even using the names "Fender" and "Rhodes". Anytime you see one product name on another product (like if a "Fender Blues Junior" preset was on a Roland modeling amp), it's either made by the same company, or one company licenses a trademark from another (pays to use a name or works out a deal).

I think it's a nice trade off between key size and portable ability. It's still cool for a small gig. When we play at home, we can always connect with a "real" keyboard via midi cable.
