Yamaha RXG was the first 135 cc motorcycle from the Japanese bike maker after their RX-100. It is the much upgraded version of legendary RX-100. As we all know, the RX range of bikes from Yamaha was very popular from the olden days itself.
The strong competition from Suzuki, Kawasaki and Bajaj in the 100cc class has made Yamaha to change their gears to 135cc category. RXG uses a 132cc, air-cooled, 2-stroke engine capable of delivering a fair amount of 12 bhp power @ 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 10 Nm @ 6500 rpm. The bike uses a 4-speed manual transmission box.
RXG features standard drum brakes for both rear and front braking. The suspension system comprises of telescopic oil-damped at the front and swing arm with hydraulic absorbers at the rear. This 104 kg motorcycle can hit a top speed of 115 kmph and it is also good for low speed touring with a fair amount of torque.
Yamaha discontinued this particular model after some years. RXG couldn't create any vibes that RX-100 was creating during its reign. Due to some performance issues and cosmetic drawbacks, this model did not work well in the market. Later Yamaha relaunched the RXG as RX-135 in 4-speed and 5-speed version, which was again a great success in the two wheeler market.
