I just bought this and realized that the balance button doesn’t work. Anyway around this?

It's probably the tac switch itself - they can be replaced quite easily and they are really cheap. Take the front off and GENTLY remove the front keys (the green surrounds are really fragile). See what sort of switch is there and order some (amazon/ebay/mouser). The replacement process is probably about 10 minutes if you have the part. Any tach should be able to do this cheaply. Hope this helps and good luck.

hi i have recapped spx90 and it works flawewsly except one thing, its going really hot at transistor and this main capacitor. Voltages are ok. Do U guys have the same? I never had spx before so not sure about.

Mine also gets quite hot, so I only turn it on when I plan to use it. If the voltage rails are good and stable, then I wouldn't be concerned.

hi my spx90 continuously goes into distortion even at low volumes what could it have? thanks

Daniele - sorry for the late reply. So, a number of things could cause this : 1. Remember to ground yourself before doing any of the following. 2. Clean all audio connections with a suitable cleaner. 3. Input levels and gain setting switch on the back. 4. Unstable power supply to the audio board - check the PSU looks good - no bulging/leaking caps. I generally replace all PSU electrolytics on anything over 20 years old. Check the output voltages from the PSU. 5. Possible capacitor or resistor failure on the audio board - I replaced all of these myself (fiddly) just because. 6. The main EPROM can be removed carefully and the contacts cleaned, again with a suitable cleaner. 7. Beyond that, you would need a service centre, unless you are prepared to invest in time learning and money to buy logic testers / ESR meters / etc. The service manual can be found easily online - make sure you get SPX90 service manual also as the SPX90II service manual is just an addendum to its predecessor.

Hi, have you got a a part number for the new display you put in? Thanks Jon.

Jon - I don’t have a part number. I just searched on eBay and found a supplier with good feedback.

How easily can a Japanese unit be changed from 100v to 120v? I don't want to buy a stepdown transformer. Haha.
@desertsynthguy Жыл бұрын
Not that easy as the PSU boards have different components. There are 4 versions - Japanese(VA81380), American (VA81390), Canadian (VA81400) and European (VA81410). These can be found on reverb/ebay/syntaur/etc for around $30 and are easily swappable.
