Yamaha SRX400 3VN Test Ride Part 4 - Engine Trouble

This was my first long test ride for the SRX400, but right after refueling, the engine started shuddering and it quit several times. Luckily I was able to restart the engine and "limp" back to the village. After a while, the engine became smooth again and so I decided to resume my test ride outside the village. Luckily, the engine and carbs were fine throughout the rest of the test ride. My theory is that maybe the new fuel I put it was too cold for the hot engine and the mixture became different. It felt as if the engine was rich when I was revving it and black smoke came out of the exhaust. I'm glad the shuddering stopped and I got to enjoy the rest of the ride.
