I own this bike and love it. Worth mentioning that although the bike is heavier, the two tanks sit much lower on the frame, about 20cm, so it ends up feeling lighter than the regular bike. It lost a lot of that"top heavy" feeling. The wider tanks also perform an incredible job of protecting you from the wind on colder days and yes, you do feel the difference

Great review, thanks. My Tracer 700 gearbox was shite also. Just tested this World Raid. Absolutely loved it. Brilliant. Great suspension. Fantastic improvement to the gearbox. Nice screen. Love the looks. Put my deposit down! PS the twin tanks help avoid fuel sloshing around off-road. Which is one of many reasons why I swapped my Africa Twin Adventure Sports for this Ténéré.

I think your "Old World" Tenere is more dirty/motoX. The "New World" Raid is more adventure touring bike like the Tiger 900's. The display almost reminds me of a phone now now then a "old world" style calculator type. I like the new NWR model because it's just a little bit more luxurious. Your OW is more playful.

My 'Old World' Tenere is going to get properly used this year! It will be going on some great big adventures that's for certain. Few modifications here and there and it will be ready 😁

We have had a 660Z for the last 10 years, I have looked at the T7 but something just held me back, as soon as I saw the WR I knew it was the right bike for me. I don’t really care about the weight, I love the twin filler caps and the bigger bike feel. It’s a complete bike.
@kostasrestas2 жыл бұрын
One question.. At WR dont you feeling the handlebar closer to you than the T7 ????? I mean,do you feeling more standing position than the T7 and for that you dont have to bend front even little beat??
@motoric5188 Жыл бұрын
4:30 How is that even possible?? World raid and standard Tenere share the same engine? And also the gear box? This really got me thinking... Anyone please?

Two separate tanks on these with a valve connecting them both together. So both tanks can equalise when you set off from stationary.
@aussiemotolife3472 жыл бұрын
Does that mean you have to fill both up separately. I think that would drive me mad. It's bad enough filling up one and waiting for the damn thing to stop dripping so you don't drip it all over the tank.

The second most important complaint after the suspension was its top heaviness. Does it get even worse with a bigger tank?
@Driftuner Жыл бұрын
Although the bike is heavier, the two tanks sit about 20cm lower, so the center of gravity on this bike is much better even though it weights more. I own a T7WR and love it
@shaneroper5470Ай бұрын
I'd keep the engine braking. For the type of bike it is, it's good to have. On, or of road.
@Justin-iw7pl2 жыл бұрын
Was really looking forward for this vid but it left me disappointed.sorry just my opinion. You didn't mention that the the tank is lower, which helps with the centre of gravity,which then the extra tank capacity is less noticeable. The twin tanks help with sloshing effect. No mention of the 3 display modes or the 3 modes of abs. Foot pegs are wider,high mount fender and ally chain guard are extras as are factory heated grips and quickshifter. Screen is higher too. The camo effect is to mimic forged carbon.Travel is increased as is the seat height and a Few other difference's Left people with questions that could have been answered.

I agree with the comment. I bought the basic T7 in 2019 and upgraded the suspension etc., but it didn’t gel with me for many reasons and it was sold. I found the World Raid, dealer demonstrator at a very good price and bought it unseen. A huge difference, they are worlds apart for the reasons mentioned. The original T7, in my opinion was very dull and uninspiring. This video was just another review of a guy on a motorbike on a wet road in traffic etc talking and like many others so much was missed. Take the bike for a ride by all means but do we want to see more of the same. Personally I would prefer the rider(s) concentrate on their riding rather than whittling on. After the ride, make it brief please we know what tarmac looks like and road junctions unless the bike is to be put through it’s paces (safely) then sit down and actually carry out a detailed comparison. I was looking for something different, perhaps find points I had not picked up on maybe but it was just another ramble, disappointing. Perhaps just another video for the sake of maintaining the income stream, like so many when there’s a lack of new content and ideas dry up.

I sat on this bike and felt the tanks too wide with my leg length, knees are already on wide part of the tank. Felt too spread apart. My standard version has unlimited leg room to the front basically, which I always liked, and that is gone on this bike.
@BikesofRye2 жыл бұрын
I can't say I noticed the lack of leg room personally. But you know I think even the base model is quite chunky anyway

@kostas nope your 100% wrong…the WR springs (front and rear) are heavier than standard, I’ve owned both. The suspension on WR is heaps better…

Nice vid/review. I do not understand the dual filler caps and they put me off: on my 990 ADV it looked great but was a nuisance. Especially on longer trips with a tank bag on top of it... 😠 The extra weight (15 kgs) of this 'improvement' is imho a HUGE disadvantage if you are riding offroad. Dry weight difference between the models is 15 kgs. The improved suspension is nice although the fully adjustable (!) standard suspension and spring rate is good enough for my weight (75 kgs.) I will stick with my base model coming years which I can upgrade to my wishes for less money. PS what about a comparison of T7 Rally and WR editions?
@mj_aussie_coaster_travels8310 Жыл бұрын
It had dual caps because it’s actually two tanks not one.
@jimmcgarvie1483 Жыл бұрын
What’s your view on crash protection? I see lots of the base model with crash bars but most reports on world raid suggest they are not needed due to structural member that runs around new tanks. I think Yamaha have made a big step forward with raid but could have gone so much further for no more money Get rid of damper and have as an option for those who want one. Single fuel filler. Twin is a gimmick Use proper dirt bike plastics. People who only use on road won’t care. Those who use on dirt would appreciate it. Re route exhaust and get it tucked in. They did it for old tenere that had twin pipes. This really isn’t a two up machine. Design it for solo rider with luggage. I.e get rid of rear pegs. I mean how often do you see two up these days

No point for the world raid Becuase the safari 45l tank is coming out - holds the fuel low like a ktm adventure, hopefully they don’t overprice it, world raid is ugly too. I’m just waiting for the tenere 900 that will have the safari like fuel tank stock
