I’ve heard many people complaining about the tf as to being limited: I’m new to live audio. What are the limitations compared to for example the ql1? I’m thinking of investing in one with faders to grow in knowledge and experience but don’t want to spend money twice. How would the Ql1 help me growing as an engineer compared to the ft?

@sweetwater Жыл бұрын
Hey there! That’s a great question, but there are a TON of layers here to really uncover what would suit you best. If you’re just starting out, the TF1 will certainly be easier to digest. It just comes down to what you’re going to be using it for. When you have some time, feel free to reach out and we’d be more than happy to do a deep dive into these 2 consoles and get a better idea of how you’re going to be using the systems. Hope to talk to you soon! Nick Pasquino, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 3230, nick_pasquino@sweetwater.com

It's terrible thing that you have to enter menus and screens, to adjust the EQ on live shows. Imagine a situation on which an performer changes a position and his/her mic suddenly gets into feedback that quickly "screams" in your PA system - you have to "jump" on your volume fader or EQ to kill that frq down. Here' you first have to scroll, then go down, then click to enter and only then adjust your EQ - That's exactly the 1.5 second that you DON'T HAVE on live shows! How about a performer that suddenly stop singing , talk to the audience and back to singing, stop again - if your FX On/Off toggle is not under your finger, but hidden in some other screen need to be scrolled, you cannot be on the FX place and EQ place at the same time. What about working with impatient performer that don't want to wait the 2nd until you enter the Aux page, to adjust his monitor? (we all met those at some stage...) Or that the feedback goes only on the stage monitor? As for assigning the user knobs - usually, nobody knows how to adjust those... So you turn to the Mixer booklets and tutorial videos and over there you get a more of commercial text, rather efficient instructions, and in many cases they send you to bottoms and functions that don't exists on your machine or software version... Yamaha is well known for this, Alan & Heath and Behringer too... Volume, EQ adjustments and On/Off toggles for FX returns MUST be on top at the rich of your fingers, all the time!!! Not under screens and menus. Sorry, but this is why I don't recommend this mixer for live performances! Bigger screen and more uni-function knobs are much more efficient than tons of functions and presets that nobody use them. Channel presets? That reminds me Motown Records' recording and mixing instructions book... What about the Wi Fi controller - does the App also works perfectly well (!) on Android or only on an expansive iPad? Anyway, thanks for the introduction .

Thats why they give you custom knobs...everyone works differently. If the speakers are calibrated properly; sound check nominates those problem frequencies by ringing out...feedback that is bad ie singer points mic at speaker is a mute job anyway...

I have exactly the same thought about this mixer. I’m currently working on a production with this and I hate it. I have a simple setup and I’m able to fit everything I need on a custom layer but accessing n EQ etc. is way too complicated for live situations.

+Will Gaines This has been a long held approach with Yamaha mixers. The engineers believe using a channel should be a deliberate activity, so you must turn ON the channels that you would like to use.

Looks so clean and neat. How would this measure up to The older A&H Q5 & Q6 series?
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 5 жыл бұрын
Hello! Jose from Sweetwater, here. Great question! From my experience I would say the TF series from Yamaha is a phenomenal mixer option to go with, and is definitely a contender with the A&H options (compared to the current Qu series from A&H). It would be more a matter of work flow preference between the two. I'd love to talk more about this, so feel free to reach out to me directly at my contact information below. Thanks for the interest! Really a good video. Is it possible to assign a stereo input (let's say a cd player connected to 1 and 2) to just ONE fader (let's say fader 1). I have a lot of stereo inputs and don't want to have double faders. And can I "move digitally" one channel on another fader position? Thank you!
@sweetwater
@sweetwater 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! You can't assign a stereo input to a single fader with this mixer, but you can do this with Yamaha's CL/QL mixers. However, when you use the ST1 or ST2 stereo input, it will be routed to a single rotary encoder on the top panel, which allows you to control input gain. Feel free to reach out if you need more information, and thanks again! Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com

Odd, all the music stores say how great it is, while some non-musicstore commentators called it an "embarrassment" Trying to find out how it compares to the SQ-series is nigh impossible to find out at any rate. Music stores just want to sell stuff, so KZbin is starting to feel like a used car lot where every car is just the perfect collectable with no rust whatsoever. If they ever made the occasional criticism, they'd be a hell of a lot more believable.

Sadly it's an analog replacement board. The only reason to look at this board over PreSonus is the mortised fades and the capture point USB interface has is pre EQ instead of post EQ. You would be better off getting the X32 Compact and and S16 because it would cost the same and give you tipple the functionality and flexibility. That and no need for a heavy 40kg+ copper snake.
@blikje_in_de_water
@blikje_in_de_water 8 жыл бұрын
well the X32 sounds really bad, lots of noise and a digital sound, I know a lot of consoles in the same price range that sounds a lot better, and not everyone needs a digital snake.... I prefer an old fashion multi snake with cheaper consoles.... In my opinion its better to have a better sound quality and a more reliable device (x32 is not reliable) than lots of features...
@jouebien
@jouebien 8 жыл бұрын
Jordy Schutten never had a bad sounding pre or AD/DA problems with the midis pres on the Xair or X32 - super flat pre very little colour and low noise floor. Their are very good reasons for a digital snake - shorter set up time required and you don't have to carry around 40-80kg's of copper. Both important if your equipment is not an permanent install.
@blikje_in_de_water
@blikje_in_de_water 8 жыл бұрын
If you call that a low noise floor then you're easy satisfied ... and the flatness of the pre amp is just the problem, it sounds like nothing and really empty in the (mid) high's shorter set up times are true, but still I can not have a secondary ethernet connection to the stage box which is not a good idea... and the x32 is definitely usable if you only need the parameters that are on the surface, if you need something less obvious the interface is really a terrible interface... but beside that, I know it's a good console for the money:) etherway I heard the X32 and the m32 side by side in a comparison and the m32 sounds a lot better ( far less noise and more detailed in the high's) So I will always advice the m32 which doesn't cost that much more....
@jouebien
@jouebien 8 жыл бұрын
Jordy Schutten The m32 costs a lot more particularly if your not state side. Import taxes in Australia push the X32 up to $4000AUD and The M32 is a 10 000AUD console. More than double the price (150% more expensive) I wouldn't exactly call it "doesn't cost that much more." Particularly when you start factoring in the stage boxes that go along with each console you start to feel the burn in your budget with the M32 much faster. Yes the highs are crisper on the M32's Miudus pro pres. Yes the X32's pre's sound flat/ a little life less and need a little EQ before some sources sound correct. BUT price to performance its it worth it? tough question: software feature set alone no - better AD/DA which is subjective - on the other hand build quality on the M32 is much nice but then it dose cost a lot more so you sort of expect that. At then end of the day I'm looking at the how many use cases can a board fill and the TF3 just doesn't cut it for me compared to a lot of other products on the market that compete in the same price point.
@blikje_in_de_water
@blikje_in_de_water 8 жыл бұрын
I didn't know that, i'm from holland and here the x32 will cost you something like 2000euros without taxes and the m32 you can buy for under 3000euros without taxes (3000 and something like 4500 AUD). that's a small upgrade for what you get.. the difference in stage boxes is about 50 euros here I really didn't know about that difference in price in Australia..
