That's a really nice drum. It seems like it's harder to get this kind of drum sounds from older synths. I really like these atmospheric sounding pieces, you're making me want to get out my SY77 again :D

Another happy owner of TG-77 and PCM-70. They make a great combo! TG-77 thru PCM-81 ain't that bad neither - has more of that "cosmic" edge to it. Still the 70's IMO is closest thing to the 224 and worth every single cent.

Cosmic edge, i like that. and agreed : kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmLad4WNabNmo8U Very nice to get a visit from a high profile sound designer as yourself...the art of discovering the 'ins and outs' of a synthesizer and how to make it tick. Have you ever thought about designing and building your dream synthesizer? That would be the ultimate yes? there is playing, then composing, then sound designing but before all that is the instrument designing. On the other hand, there are so many great synths past and present that one could spend a lifetime exploring even just a handful of them...what a wonderful world of sound and music to be part of!

@@silverlight2004dbI had designed software synthesizer using a new form of synthesis which I have developed. Posted a couple of demos on KVR, people seemed to like it. It was designed for atmospheres mostly, it had a super wide stereo sound. No sawtooth or anything like that. Just rich spectral (yet tuned) sounds. But it was built in Reaktor and I could not export it as regular plugin. So I moved to Synth Maker where I started recreating it again but never finished the project as by that time I have started professional sound design. Now I work for Roland and feel a bit busy. Don't want to brag, but nothing similar on the market even nowadays. Perhaps I should rebuild and offer it to Roland. Ha! We'll see. ;)
