You could have used a short-arm Allen(tex-key) key to remove the back plate bolts I got a set of Amazon as I used the Shad system to fit side boxes on my Tracer 9 GT, these look very nice too

I had Shad SH23 in my previous Tracer 7. I like opening from top. But on Shad web-page, is SH23 not compatible with Tracer 9. But maybe it is. Therefore I looked for alternative and Givi looks well for me. I do not like how SH36 looks on bikes. (too wide) I think make bike even wider, but I cannot confirm.

Does this system have quick-release option? 3. Why you decided to use Yamaha’s Top case instead of Givi?

Hi Sergey, I am happy to hear that. Here are my answers: 1. definitely, w/o OEM top case is installation much easier. 2. I am not sure what you meat Quick-release option. But Givi offers something like that. I did not install and kept frame always on bike. (If you mean this) 3. When I bought bike, there were no Givi available on market. And I wanted to have top-case from the beginning I had a bike. Todays makes sense to buy full complet from Givi.

@@SergeyVikultsev I cannot compare with OEM ones, I do not have them. Maybe Givi are a little bit wider. I think only cons of Givi is that you cannot use common key for ignition and you needs another key. From design and size point of view I like them.

I just bought Tracer 9 and was considering getting V37 panniers, which are more than twice cheaper than yamaha OEM ones, i was wondering how wide the panniers get, cause it seems a little bit wider than the handlebars

If I remeber right apporx. 1m (1.0? m, something like that). The OEM are smaller.

Nicely done, great tutorial. Those cases looks much better than original one. I'm looking for side cases for my T9 with yamaha top case mount like yours. Can you please share what is the width of the bike with cases installed?

I cannot judge. Advantage of Yamaha cases are 1 key for everything. Advantage of Givi is they are bigger and cheaper. Someone who wants yamaha cases buys GT model I assume. Aftermarket are for non GT owners I would say.

I think the side cases look great on the bike and so much more attractive than the ugly Yamaha original ones. The only downside for me though is all the scaffolding you have to fit on the bike to support the cases. It's a pity that GIvi can't come up with a way of using the original fixing points.

Im not a particular fan of Givi, but they can't use the original fixations just due to the fact that their bags are for several diferent models, so they have to keep their fitting Universal making only slight changes to accomodate where it bolts to the bike, if they were to use the mounting spots of the originals on the Tracer they would have to change the docking mechanism on the bags
