Yamaha Tracer 900GT 2019. REAR RACK AND 50L YAMAHA TOP CASE

Thank you for showing this so thoroughly! I wanted to order the mount and the case but on the website I wanted to order it, they have a video where they say that you can't use the Yamaha side cases anymore and that you have to switch to different manufacturers if you need the space... Obviously (thanks to your video) it works, of course, as expected! Thank you again! So, now I can order it...somewhere else... ;-)

Yamaha doesn't take responsibility for the combined load of side cases and top case. In some countries, that will also make it technically illegal and could in really rare circumstances give you problems with insurance when involved in some accident. But if you use it sensibly, i don't expect any issues at all, except that the load on your front wheel can get low at high speeds, which can lead to wobbles.

@@Pfooh Thank you for pointing out the wobbling. I've experienced this a couple of weeks ago and thought there was something wrong with the front wheel. Never thought of the top case being the reason. But now that I read this it makes sense! Now I understand why they say that you shouldn't go faster than 130km/h with cases attached... 👍🏻

@@JohnnyJohnbonny speed wobbles van be caused by other problems of course. Always make sure to check suspension and steering head bearing. But yes, top cases do affect the load distribution by a lot. Increase preload of rear suspension, move heavy stuff to tankbag, and keep speeds reasonable.

Is there still good visibility of the brake/ taillight with top case installed? Looks like a car that is traveling close behind might have difficulty seeing it.

What type of rack did you need? It says on yamaha's website I need to install a "niken passenger grab bar kit" to then install the plate that holds the top box. Is this all necessary?

@@W0ofeR can't work out why mine gets water in then. Seems to come from around the lock mechanism kind of area. Can't work out if there's a seal missing or something
