If your grips start slipping with time.. a tip I got from someone YEARS ago and I’ve used ever since: Wrap one or two wraps of duct tape around your handle bars under where the grip goes, pour gasoline on them and slide your grip on. The gasoline breaks down the duct tape leaving the adhesive.. doing this I’ve never ever had a grip come loose on me ever since. It’s dirt cheap, stupid easy, and you already have what you need in your garage. I haven’t ever heard of anyone else doing this but I wanted to put this back out into the universe to hopefully help someone else as much as it’s helped me over the years.

Wow that’s really awesome! I’ve never heard of that before but it totally makes sense. If I ever have any issues with my grips, I will certainly give this a try. And definitely make sure to shout you out. It’s actually a really smart idea I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it. It’s also better then buying grip glue, considering everything you need is in the garage! Thanks for that advice! Ride safe 🤘🏼😃

It appears one unique feature of those Rox 2" risers is the design allows you to pivot the raised bar back or forward relative to the original clamps. It seemed to me Mr. Mostro should have confirmed his desired bar position before committing to the final placement of the parts that required drilled holes & even the tilt of the clutch lever etc. That confirmation probably required sitting on the bike and standing on the pegs. No harm done but he might have missed out on optimising the ergonomics for his particular height & reach. Subtle alignment differences can make a difference in comfort.

Putting the handgrips on, we usually just use rubber cement, it helps as a lubricant to slide the handgrip on but it also prevents the handgrip from turning after it sets up. Nice video, thanks for posting it.

If you look on the head of the "Philips" screws you will notice that there is a small dimple. This indicates that they are JIS(Japanese Industrial Standard) and NOT Philips screws. This requires a different screwdriver to keep from buggering up the screw heads when removing or tightening. The screwdriver that comes with the TW200 tool kit is proper, but you can also purchase a JIS screwdriver on line or from an upscale tool dealer to keep in your toolbox.

Great video - Thank you. At 24:04, I believe the collar should be tightened against the adjusting nut (not towards the clutch perch) to prevent the adjusting nut/barrel from moving. I may be wrong though.

Hey thank you for the comment! I’m new to adjust the clutch on this bike. The way I do it, I just adjust the slack with the adjuster nut, then once I’ve got that set I just tighten up the locking nut. Seems to work okay on my bike, but I’m definitely no expert! I’m sure there are other good ways to adjust it as well.

I just tried to install Tusk D-Flex Pro handguards on my stock TW200 handlebars but couldn't make it work since the bar crossbar is right where the inboard clamps should be. This Pro Taper bar might be the answer. Don't know if 7/8 clamps are needed or 1 1/8 clamps since the bars taper. If you install handguards on yours we will see. Great video.
@MostroMoto
@MostroMoto 3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks so much for bringing that up, sorry to hear about your problems with your hand guards. I hope you were able to make them work. I was also looking at tusk d flex guards. I’m going to have to do some research on the forms to see what size I would need, like you said they are tapered so the sizing is a little more difficult than normal. I’m hoping to do hand guards within the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for a video. And I’ll try and answer any questions in that video. Thanks for watching, ride safe!

instead of using a Philips screw driver you should use the screw driver that comes in the TW tool kit, the reason it strips easily is cause the screws are a Japanese standard and Philips is an American standard so it just doesn't' fit well.

The reason your screws strip easily is because they are not phillips head, they are JIS, Japanese Industrial Standard. The head shape is slightly different. Get a set of drivers and you wont strip them.

@Mostro Moto I appreciate the feedback! I put 2 inch Rox risers on, but then I put on a custom seat that raised me 2 inches.
