I always knew you was a clever bugger springy, but to remove a bank of carbs from a 4 cylinder bike one handed is truly awesome mate. Might I suggest that with all the money you saved by doing this yourself, perhaps you could buy a bloody TRIPOD !!!

I'm so glad it's helping ..the worst part of any new challenge is starting .. the videos are badly filmed and quite waffley but seem to be very popular..there just wasn't any You tube help out there with the carb rubbers and carb overhaul specific to this bike.. and I made plenty of little mistakes so other people don't have to ..best of luck with the overhaul and remember it's all just nuts and bolts !! Did it run ok when you got it .. With delkavics on I would imagine it will need a 're jet..the stock exhaust are very restrictive as are all Suzuki zorsts...but the xjr runs perfectly with stock exhaust carb jets and air filter...even the new carb rubbers don't make a huge difference ..i only changed mine as they were perished... I would suggest you go to a rolling road tuner...put the air filter in ..as you can't run without it..and have it tuned ...the non standard exhaust may be upsetting the mix running too lean ... It should pull like a locomotive on all stock bits...all through the rev range..

Hiya, just a question, I’ve got a 2005 xjr 1300 and the fuel keeps draining into the oil. I reckon the carb float valves leaking through letting the fuel go down the cylinders and past the rings. Is this the issue you was having? Also where did you get the shorter Inlet rubbers from and carb kits
@springy-21124 жыл бұрын
Hey Adam , yes the sticking float valves were the issue. Very common on the xjr not sure why I've had loads of these carbs on other bikes but I suppose worn needle and seats is inevitable on any float bowl carb . The 36y rubbers were from Yambits UK. the carb overhaul kits from eBay. If you ring Yambits they're very helpful and I would get both the rubbers and carb overhaul kits from them they are very good quality unlike the hit and miss eBay bits .I was lucky my eBay parts were ok. Probably worth checking your fuel tap as well but it's most likely the float valves (needle and seats) .. Hope you get sorted ok .👍🏻☮❤

Hi Springy, thanks for the video. gonna try this myself. there is a lot of information out there regarding the 36y rubbers, and different sites at various prices. what ones did you get? was it worth doing? thanks in advance.
@springy-21124 жыл бұрын
Hey Buddy I got mine from Yambits UK I rang up just to make sure all was correct.. The difference was hard to pinpoint as I had bad float needles overfuelling at the same time and I did a full service including plugs.. but my old rubbers were perished and the main plus was moving the air box and having more space to put the carbs in and out with the shorter rubbers.. once all was done it ran sweet..but it may have been a bit rough before so hard to tell...👍🏻☮❤

Hi springy, Great videos mate. I was wondering if you could help me out. I have a 2003 XJR and a couple of months back I noticed that it was misfiring on tick over sometimes cutting out. I bought new plugs but it has not solved the problem. I have checked the Resistance on the Primary / Secondary spark plugs and pick up coil and all seem ok. I did notice the Intake rubbers were looking perished and thanks to your video I was going to clean them and put silicon on them but noticed that you are changing them in this video. Could these be the problem on my bike? I have a feeling the mixture is out, maybe getting to much air because with the choke on when the engine is cold there is no misfire or backfire from the exhaust.
@springy-21125 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy , it's hit n miss with the intake rubbers leaking..they are extremely thick walled so they can perish and crack a fair bit without leaking..but as you have seen after months of procrastinating i bit the bullet and did the upgrade rubbers and associated air box move/ mod and was glad i did for peace of mind and ultimately better flow ..but i would recommend if you do the rubber upgrade to strip and service the carbs while theyre out..it cured all my running issues..as for popping on over run they all do that on the standard exhaust .. i know its time consuming and costly but it will transform the bike..and you have my dodgy videos to hopefully help. if only to show what can go wrong !! 👍🏻☮❤
@stephenscott97435 жыл бұрын
@@springy-2112 Thanks for replying so quick mate. I think I will change the intake rubbers then for peace of mind. May I ask why were the ones you replaced thinner? Were they not genuine parts? And do you think that this is the cause of the misfire or uneven running at idle? Sorry for all the questions LOL.
@springy-21125 жыл бұрын
@@stephenscott9743 the replacement rubbers have a bigger hole inside they are genuine rubbers off the xjr1200..if yours are split right through it will knacker the idle but its more likely a carb issue like a sticky float needle..or even a diaphragm but unlikely.. you can get the rubbers from yambits uk . if you ring them they will know exactly what rubbers you need as an upgrade and the carb bits too..the upgrade rubbers are also less than half the price of the restrictive xjr1300 ones..👍🏻☮❤

I've just bought a 2002 XJR1300SP and the last guy put Laser exhausts on it, I've just noticed 1 and 4 heater cables are hanging loose and are not connected, are they needed regardless of exhaust type?
@springy-21125 жыл бұрын
Hey Tim it'll run regardless of the heaters just rougher in cold weather and particularly at speed in cold temps..the exhaust has no bearing on the carb heaters and vice versa ..personally I would make sure they're connected and working bit meanwhile they'll not stop the bike running ..take care and ride safe buddy 👍🏻☮❤
