You can't add your pipe to carb anywhere but in the middle or it will never deliver fuel equally.Look build from head with a 25degree downward slope equal tube length but short as possible then from center put your tube outward level with an immediate 45 to the left and you will have it.

I've been saying this for years. Folks keep saying how the engine will pull what it needs. It pulls the air volume, but the fuel takes odd paths when tumbling in the flow.

Maybe a compression test is needed.

Compression on this old girl was really good, it broke a bone in my foot kick staring it lol. I had the motor apart and she was fresh inside.

Look both pipes from head to a T or Y must have the same shape and length after that you can bend to the side or up or down.
