The cost for the Nord in Australia is about $2k more than the YC88. With all the variety the YC88 has in such a great all round package I honestly think it's too hard to go past for the cost, quality and playability in a live setting. Placed an order on a YC88 and I'm so excited 🙂

Question is, does the nord sound $3,000 better than the Yamaha? That’s the price difference in Australia. When playing in a band, etc, I don’t think so.
@Jason75913Ай бұрын
Same goes for this vid, wow, not $3000 better at all.

Nord pianos are Great but always sim to lack a little more bass presents which yamaha does well

Agree
@MichaelKasifMusicАй бұрын
Everyone concerned about how they sound, when EQ, compression, played in a full band, and on a stage, it is literally going to be insignificant. They both sound fine, if you prefer one it doesnt mean its better.
@mattmckeon1688Ай бұрын
I think the Nord sounds better, but not by enough to justify its price premium. The Yamaha may even sound better in a mix.

I really like your playing style. It adds greatly to the content. I've had a CP4 for about 10 years and I'm just really used to it and it sounds pretty good too. I've used the CFX piano sample in the studio and it sounds great. I do especially like the feel. Recently I picked up a Nord Piano 5. I was instantly impressed by the stunning sound. I really like the samples on the Nord Piano but I miss the tweaking. The CP4 allows for filter and envelope editing. I know the Grand has more editing than the Piano sample section.I realize I'm discussing instruments not covered in your presentation, but I'm offering my experience with both brands. I think they're both great; different but still great. The DX samples out of the box on the Nord, I dare say, seem better than the CP4. I'm glad I have both. Nord is probably most flexible in terms of covering bases on a gig.

How would you compare the Nord Grand 2 withthe Kawai MP7se?
@ChrisP3000xАй бұрын
The Nord piano flat out destroys the YC88's . I'm not a Nord fan, but that can't be denied. Must be symp string res.
@luucdentoom6955Ай бұрын
Nah, I think it’s just preference. The string resonance on Nord has always been so subtle that you only hear it when playing isolated piano sound without any reverb. It’s mainly marketing, and if you ask me, for stage performance quite irrelevant. (Disclaimer: this is my opinion😅)
@ChrisP3000xАй бұрын
@luucdentoom6955 The Nord SR can be quite prominent and realistic. Perhaps try listening through quality monitors. And I agree, all higher quality pianos/keyboards excel while solo, but definitely noticed by real musicians in most any setting. And as musicians, we live for our instruments sounding as beautiful as they should.
@luucdentoom6955Ай бұрын
@@ChrisP3000x if you say so.. I don’t think it’s my monitors, but it could be my ears. 😅 I love both the sound of some of the Nord samples and some of the Yamaha samples, with or without the SR. I also own a Yamaha CLP785. And I love that thing for its sound (and the heavy feel of the keybed). Its virtual resonance modeling sounds really convincing, even when playing softly. I never experienced that extra dimension of realism with the Nords I owned, and also not with the YC/CP series for that matter.
@ChrisP3000xАй бұрын
@@luucdentoom6955 Ok , so now for some strange reason, you are comparing Nord portable vs Yamaha home.
@luucdentoom6955Ай бұрын
@ That underscores exactly the point I want to make: that sympathetic resonance, in my opinion, is not relevant for stage keyboards like Nord and Yamaha YC/CP. And it is relevant for home instruments like the CLP. Hence this comparison.

The YC needs(!) string ressonance! They need to make the stage pianos also have that, sorry to say that's why I sold my YC73 and was more happy with my Casio PX-S3000 even as in playing pure piano

Stage pianos don't need string resonance. Ever. That's a feature better suited to home console pianos like Yamaha Clavinovas or Roland LX.
