Yamaha YS 125 (2017) - Test drive and review

A short test drive. Just riding around on the new 2017 Yamaha YS 125 cm3.
My little review:
Driving Yamaha YS 125 is an experience very similar to riding Yamaha YBR 125. New (2017) Yamaha YS has a fuel injection, better breaking system - UBS, and is a really light motorcycle. In my opinion the design of this machine is just superb. I also love the new dashboard. It's beautiful and works perfectly. It shows all the necessary stuff, including gear number. Fuel economy is incredible. Sound is pretty quiet and nice. It won't make anyone angry. Your ears won't bleed :) Changing gears is accurate and with a nice "click". Overall I recommend this bike to anyone who is a begginer or intermediate, but just want something that is really cheap in running and maneuvers like a bicycle. Good quality.

Yeah. I know that feeling :) Both bikes are really similar, but Honda looks a little bit more sportish, while Yamaha is more like a city looking bike. Both have a great quality and are pretty affordable.

QualityCheck I think I'll go for the Honda, it just seems a little more "me" plus it's been out and tested for some time.

Or another option would be the Benelli TNT 125. I traded my Honda CB125F for that and never looked back. Its only slightly smaller but a bit more handy in the traffic, looks fantastic and costs a bit less than either the Honda or Yamaha.

Justin FlemingThis Bike only just came out like a month or two ago while the cb125f has been around for over 2 years. But yeah you would have thought there'd a proper review of this bike by now in the UK but there isn't still. Perhaps Yamaha is not worried too much having no promotion as they're making so much money with the MT series lol. Personally I'd go for this, for the same price I think the YS overall looks better and it's a Yamaha so it's just as good if not better.

I don't understand why this bike and CB125F don't have ABS brakes. Learners or novice bikers need them most yet two starter bikes do not have them! Suzuki GSX-S125 does. Admittedly it costs considerably more but would be safer regarding brakes.

even if the 125 had abs it would most likely be single abs rather than dual that would be for more powerful bikes. You wouldnt be going fast enough on these learner bikes anyway to activate the abs.

deepak prasad Only way to find out is to give your local Yamaha dealer a call and ask them directly. Bought one here in the UK and will be collecting tomorrow, not tested the bike as it's new so hope I will like it lol.
