they do make a crawlbox for that year that gives you your 5 high gears, and also 5 low gears

The 24 model now has a new 40% lower 1st gear with a six speed. It never fails because I just bought one a few months ago without any knowledge of the new setup coming and I would have greatly preferred the newer version. Before buying mine I was concerned about the gearing being to tall for the slower trail riding you have to do in my area but I went for it I just had to have the drive it myself 5 speed. Even though I hear 1st is lower on mine than the 16,17, and 18 models you still have to get on it a little bit to keep it moving annoying at times on all the rocky roads around me.

Do you have any video of it in the woods, going slow? I'd like to know more about the '24 since I'm shopping for one, maybe...
@BarnStangz Жыл бұрын
Great video man! I'm looking into getting a YXZ for a second machine, I'm interested in the new 2024 that is coming out. I hope this new 6 speed will have a nice super low first gear, otherwise I might be looking at a Honda Talon. I ride mostly woods in Michigan and WV. Thanks for the insights.

Wouldn’t suggest a talon, due to transmission problems…

If you replace the stock fly wheel with a heavier fly wheel, you’ll be able to crawl at 3 to 4 mph done it on mine great upgrade

Do you need rear spacers when running front wheels on the back? Is it still 64 inches wide in the rear?

you can fix powder coat, mix your powder with some laquer thinner and fill in the spot. granted it wont look as good, but it is possible. but a good powder coat job wont chip. it will only chip if they did a bad preparation. ive owned a powder coating shop for 12 years, so i talk from experence

the engines being "turbo ready" in 19+ was a HORRIBLE move imo. Ill take the 11.5:1 compression pistons over the 9:1 low comp pistons that come in the 19+ ANY day of the week. If ima spend 4 grand on a turbo kit, then i have no problem swapping pistons and rods over a weekend of buggy work. But for a stock NA setup, those low comp pistons are just leaving you lacking a considerable amount of top end. Ive owned both, and putting a nice tune with advanced timing on both, it a VERY noticeable difference. Sold the 19' and kept the 17'. Although all my riding is spent in the dunes @6k+ rpm. so results may very depending on your riding style

That's super interesting because from what I'm noticing with testing I actually retarded ignition timing and mine seems to be running better. My ignition table in FTecu basically looks like a 2016 YXZ1000R ignition table. They advertise the new models as having 11.5:1 compression ratio. If its 9:1 that would explain the super advanced timing the 2019's and newer have on FTecu. I just got back from a ride today and after retarding my timing on my 2022 YXZ1000R by 5 to 8 degrees in spots I personally think they have the timing to aggressive on the 2019+ models with 11.5 compression pistons. because mine runs like my brothers 2016 YXZ1000R now with a nearly identical Timing map. Just my 2 cents

My main concern with looking to purchase the YXZ is the slow crawling i sometimes would have to do on the east coast here. Some of the trails i run, get pretty gnarly. I don't know if i could swing the payments with purchasing the new machine AND adding the GYTR 70/30 kit. Its $5K on top of the machine to get it installed.

I rode pa mostly and it did fine. Here in ky big tires an low gearing is king. It’s a fun machine but it won’t go 7mph without lots of cash.

Thanks for the info, Im planning on a new YXZ. I cant believ these dont have snorkles with the air coming in clean above the roof, not the worst spot possible next to the rear tires. Cmon Yamaha

In your opinion would the 31x10x14 terrabites fit on the front without rubbing, with the same stock front wheels? Our area is so rough I need all the clearance I can get. Any chance you could measure clearance at the foot well to tire at its closest point in the steering angle?
@ethanmiller6680 Жыл бұрын
I believe you would be fine to run a 31” I had plenty of room. I just sold that car and bought something new I’ll be uploading a video soon about it.
