Rina is a contemporary jazz pianist. Hers is a pure type of jazz, not for her the more 'popular' style of say, Hiroma Uehara, or the 'tried and tested' earlier style of Diana Krall. This is not a style with any great commercial potential. But as a musician, Rina is clearly a player who commands the respect of other musicians and those familiar with this particular niche genre. Is it complex? Yes. Does her music make demands of the listener? Very much so. Can many people play at this level? Very few. If you're familiar with contemporary melodic jazz of this type, played by this calibre of musician, then you will appreciate her artistry.
