Honestly, I feel like this song is severely underrated: a lot of people will joke about how Len has many pervy songs, and while that's true, what about masterpieces like THIS? I just love how in this song, his voice isn't weirdly high pitched, but toned and mature. It's very poignant and deep, and I feel like it really deserves to be more iconic.

Agreed. Not to mention the melody and the meaning behind the song are both so sad. I think this is one of my favorite Vocaloid songs.

Suzunosuke's art style and Len's slightly more mature voice combined... *drools*
So I've been spending the past month kinda thinking endlessly about this song and what it could mean exactly. There is of course the option for him to simply be deluding himself that he's a pianist talent, but I think the reality is a lot sadder. So it's obvious that his right hand (assuming it's his dominant hand) is broken. Obviously for most musicians, their hands are basically their life. I assume that what happened was that he strained himself either during a concert or during practice, but decides to hide it. It becomes increasingly painful for him to play the piano, and I feel like the breaking point is probably when his hand becomes completely useless, and he's unable to perform any longer.

Having looked at the lyrics intermittently over the past year and a half, I think this song has multiple layers of meaning that get progressively darker. On the surface, this song is about a professional pianist who smiles and waves at the crowd to hide his insecurities about the mistakes he knows he is making but the audience doesn't notice. The next layer is a bit more sinister. The lines after the guitar solo roughly translate to: "Wearing a smiling mask to hide my scar-covered body, I play the role of the 'ideal me.' In this never-ending fools' banquet, would living be easier if I were to reveal everything? As if!" The scars are presumably cutting scars, implying that the pianist either feels such strong negative feelings that his profession prevents him from expressing that he has to cut himself to release them, or is so benumbed by it (his profession) that he has to cut himself to feel anything at all. The "never-ending fools' banquet" is referring to life, which the pianist has concluded is a farce. The last line says "I shall pierce my broken heart and laugh, laugh at myself," implying that he has decided to kill himself because he can't play his role of his "ideal self" anymore. This hapless pianist's life is representative of the lives of people in the show business, who must constantly wear a smile and pretend they are happy to show their fans that they are dedicated and to protect their fans from having to deal with the questionable morality of forcing someone to continue to do something they are good at but no longer enjoy doing. They increasingly feel that what they're doing is pointless, or that they'll never be good enough for the masses to be satisfied, so they decide that quitting on life is easier than quitting their job and living with the backlash from their fanbases. The fourth and final layer is that we are all performers, that we are all pretending that we aren't broken inside and don't want to kill ourselves, as the last chorus says, "To this bright melody, you can join the parade, masquerading as a merry soul." It is this last layer that really brings this song home for me because we all have been asked at some point if we were okay and answered yes, even though answer was no.

that's why the songs of Hitoshizuku x Yama are my favorites, and I think they also love Len since the malloria len is one of the most important, it makes me that they like to make songs with len for that suzunosuke draw as he knows the beautiful and handsome len :v XD :3 n/////n and rin also
This song takes on a whole new meaning to me, as I'm an artist and a tumor sort of destroyed my wrist leaving me with really aggressive arthritis. Creating is painful and I'm scared for my future and whether or not I'll ever have to stop for good.

The flowers are dazzling and glowing in colour, but the smiling pianist himself is grey. I wonder how many people relate to him. Oh, and his hand... I think he keeps using it to create wonders for others without caring that it'll break soon, to hide his dark thoughts. And it can't last much longer.
@hazel21993 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I relate. Not just to that, but My hands are pained constantly and I am a violinist and pianist. I don't know how much longer I'll get to play, but hopefully I can last long enough to go for a career with it like I have always dreamt of!
