These videos have frightened me off ever wanting one of these. I have heard that the bronze plastic used on G1 transformers is also very fragile.

For the original Shogo. I replaced the plastic pins for laptop micro screws.Goes right into the elbow joint which makes it more sturdy. Once I got the shoulder replacement from Yamato I haven't had an issue with the original Garland. Glad I opted not to get the Proto-Garland. Saved me a lot of headache.

Damn, i thought the others relase were better than the normal garland, because of the broken shoulder problems.

For the original, it's possible to go from cycle to slave mode without removing Shogo. This was advertised by Yamato before its release. It's not easy and takes some maneuvering, but is possible. Not sure about the Proto because i don't have it.

So sorry for all the broken bronze plastic breaks on your Proto Garland. While I don't think I have any breaks on mine yet, I am sure it can't escape the same fate. The only reason that I don't have broken parts yet is because the Garland hasn't been handled since I transformed it into slave mode and left it on the display shelf. In these ten years, i occasionally found urges to put it into bike mode and put its gun in his hand but now that I have seen this video, I think I'll leave it standing around for another 10 years. Speaking of breaks, just the other day, I checked on my Yamato 1/72 YF19 version 2 toy in fighter mode and one of its hips literally broke while I was just holding the toy! Yes, time is not kind on these Yamato toys. It is so sad that they are nowhere as sturdy as the Hasbro/Takara Transformers Leader Class toys. =( I transformed those buggers over and over but I have yet to break any of them!

are you still able to transform into slave mode after the parts broke ?? or is it useless at that point ?

If I recall correctly, I could transform it but it came into separate parts and had to be put back together. I will be gluing it thoroughly next time I have it out for the comparison to the Arcadia toy.
