Nice tying sequence. This Kebari looks similar like some of the most famous Softhackle Wets. I like to fish this flies a lot.

+Eberhard Scheibe In fact I tied this kebari from a very old wet fly that was tied by my grand father decades ago. The only difference is that my grandfather used hen chicken feather and a barbed hook. I have never known the name of his pattern but as I have successfully fished this kebari in the mountain streams of Japan I have decided to name the "Yamato kebari".

Oh thanks. I should have known that. I'm familiar with many of his Lyric Pieces, but obviously not that one. It's almost French sounding. Love your posts. I'm fascinated by kebari flies and will tie some very soon and try them here in Australia. :-)

You do it reverse how most tiers do. Usually hackle ,build the body, then dub. Interesting

Thank you for watching my video Dennis! I tie my kebari just like I was taught by Japanese tenkara masters Dr. Hisao Ishigaki and Masami Sakakibara whom I have met three years ago. This way of tying flies comes from times when tenkara fishing was used by professional anglers as it makes ties stronger.
