People hate Yamcha mainly because he was killed by a Saibaman, instead finishing him off.

Besides, people think he weak because he didn't show useful against this foe, and besides, he was grab by Android which drains energy, instead dodging. In other words, people who seen Yamcha in Dragon Ball, could hate him just by seeing how useful he was in Dragon Ball Z, and how useful he could have been.

Compared to the population of earth yamcha is an omega Chad, I remember one filler at the start of z where he was so strong he just ripped all the weights off the wall and all the betas who doubted him just shit them selves
