7:20. Some very important emergency items left off the list: - Headlamp instead of flashlight. - A few fuses in the sizes and capacities specific to your bike. - Small roll of electrical tape. - Small roll of duct tape. - 2 ft of 20 gauge electrical wire (can be rolled to fit inside the electrical tape roll). - JB Weld SteelStik (to repair a cracked crankcase or radiator in order to limp home).

The headlamp advice is pure gold, Plus if you've got the space to spare, A high visibility vest and a road flare or 2 . If you need to fix something on the side of the interstate at night You will be thankful that you look like a giant banana . Not to mention the utility in case you're trying to keep your buddy who just crashed from getting hit by another car coming around the blind turn.

I have questions. Why: 1. Electric tape? 2. Duct Tape? 3. 20 gauge Electrical wire? 4. JB Weld SteelStik? Genuinely curious. Cause it seems like having universal high capacity saddle bags and a cargo rack on the back of my cruiser seems like a requirement.

Honestly, in my years of riding so far I never needed a tool kit on the road - only used tools when I swapped my exhaust. However, cleaning supplies and tools for especially chain maintenance and other mechanical components is in my opinion much more important on a regular basis, and something every rider should keep in stock - especially if you ride in humid environments. Keeping your mechanical pieces clean will save you from having to do actual repairs down the line.

Personal thoughts from someone who recently probably progressed from a beginner to intermediate: The disc lock is VERY essential!!! At least if you live in SoCal. Don't listen to what he says though. Your 400 can and will get stolen if you're careless. When I had a R3 and browsed the R3 forums and FB groups, I remember multiple ppl getting them stolen. Also, those accessories should be a 1 time purchases and will stay with you regardless of bike. Personally, I think a disc lock and Kyrpotonite chain should be considered a part of the cost of your bike. On the subject of my first bike, my R3 had a gear indicator, but the next bike I purchased did not. So I immediately went out and bought a gear indicator. If I knew what I know now, I wouldn't have bought it. I never even look at the gear indicator. I thought that I did, but I don't. I mostly forget it's there until it errors out. It's a major PITA to calibrate and is oftentimes inaccurate anyways. It was also kind of a pain to install. Your ears are just as good, if not better than those lil gear indicators for telling you which gear you're in, at least on my bike.

Yes please on the tool kit. I have helped approximately eleventy billion people on the side of the road who were standing around broken down because they didn't have a tool kit. And if you want to get super fancy put a few cotter pins and twist ties in there. It may save you a $200 + tow bill. And if you are carrying your guitar or your "axe" like that one dude bring extra panties and some strings.

In the tools equipment, you forgot to have a torque wrench. I recently had to replace the oil pan because the previous owner had over-tightened the oil-pan bolt and caused a crack in it. Fuuun to change just before the season where I live started...
