One BIG point: if youre like me, you dont ride all year. So ask your motorcycle insurance if they have whats called “storage”, where essentially, you have a bare insurance plan and its expected that you arent riding. I do this in the Fall to not pay the premium price for the winter months. I did this with a couple cars I own too. My motorcycle is stored in a garage

Living in Texas I have full coverage with a higher policy limit then the crappy state minimum. The roadside assistance is totally worth it at around $15 a year. Plus the number of times I’ve used it. Make sure you save up when your new policy starts I usually save 20% by paying in full.

Property and casualty insurance typically only pays out half of premiums collected in claims paid. So yeah, it is pretty much a scam. No one in their right mind would agree to such an arrangement unless they are crappy drivers. That's why the government has to force everyone to buy it: to avoid the self-selection bias. On the other hand, if it wasn't for the insurance industry, there would probably be a lot more road fatalities (and therefore, more losses) as they are the primary advocates for safety.

Not one tip to save on insurance has ever been true for me in Ontario. I pay $210 a month for my GSX S750, nothing changed when I aged past 25, and the MSF was literally a requirement to get insured, and still only 2 out of 10 insurance companies would even look at me for not riding a cruiser and being over 35. Perfectly clean driving record for over 10 years now. Insurance IS a total scam and the only reason I really have it on my bike is because I'm required too.

yeah... its sad... they take every penny they can then fight you for anything... and any issue and they raise the prices. They offer me a MSF discount and warned me that it was about to expire 3 years after I hadn't taken one. I checked with them and they were going to take $50/year off and the course is good for 3 years again... it cost me more than $150 to take the course, talk about a loss of money. They didn't seem to understand that no matter what I explained. Isn't MSF to help people be better and less likely to wreck, but you want me to lose money to do it? "but we are giving you a discount." 🤦♀️

Really just a commercial for Progressive. The most important aspect of motorcycle insurance is not really replacing your bike or providing for roadside towing, but keeping you protected from getting sued if the accident is your fault.
