My advice is to use rear brakes as well, using both brakes will net you more stopping force and also keep the bike more stable and you also might minimize front wheel lockup if you have old bike with no ABS to save you. I had a accident when my front wheel locked up, its a scary thing.

Triumph's new Street Triple comes with linked brakes... as do others. I always used it anyway... for the reasons you mentioned.
@donaldwilson5693
@donaldwilson5693 Жыл бұрын
I always use both brakes - first the rear and a split second later the front. Obviously, the front has more power than the rear, but that doesn't seem to be a good reason not to use both. You can't "stomp" on the brakes like you can in a car or you will be going down. You need to progressively add pressure.
@ayowser01
@ayowser01 10 ай бұрын
@donaldwilson5693 you have it backwards; it should be front before rear. Also, braking with both brakes has the undesired effect of preventing the front forks from compressing and therefore increasing rake.
@iankunert6131
@iankunert6131 7 ай бұрын
@@ayowser01you are absolutely incorrect. Using the front brake removes load on the rear tire, increasing the likelyhood of slipout if you apply the rear brakes after the front Its ALWAYS rear brake firm to lighter pressure and then front brake light to heavy pressure. Always. End of story.

Among other things, the brake proportioning valve on a Chevy van assures that the rear brakes are engaged before the front brakes are engaged. This stabilizes the rear end during braking. Presumably, activating the rear brakes first "plants" the rear end on the asphalt so it doesn't wander around when the more powerful front brakes are engaged. Transposing this strategy to a two-wheel vehicle, If you hit the rear brakes first, that action would stabilize the rear end before the more effective front brakes are engaged.

Hello Yamber Nooberman, I bought a c50 boulevard, my first bike, 3 weeks ago after watching you, DDFM, MotoJitsu, and BxD for like forever. I think that after absorbing your guys' content for 7+ years, it's actually helped me tremendously. I got comfortable with the bikes grip, balance, clutch, and brakes so fast. I'm literally doing feet up stops like I've been riding for years 😂 My friends say I've got natural skill and coordination because before I bought the bike I had like 10 minutes of riding experience on a pit bike😂 But I think it's seriously just years of watching you guys. Thank you for keeping me safe

Hill start on a manual car: you can easily start without using the handbrake if you can control your feet enough to step from the brake to the gas pedal while releasing the clutch. It takes some time to learn but easily possible. You can also hold the car uphill with clutch and gas pedals only - but it may cost your clutch. I should know, I burnt one this way because I was too lazy to use the brake pedal in a traffic jam 😁😁

Another place I would say cycling "helps a ton" is understanding how to manage grip while the bike is neutral. You can't add any more brake or power. You can get really comfortable with both wheels on the edge of their grip limit, and balance it front to back.

All types of insurance services and/or services that require an interest payment are the drivers of inflation. In other words, the first thing that is designed to go up in price or cost when a capitalist government and economy are interests. In very general and superficial terms, the goal is to redistribute money to different industries or classes in the economy. It's a tool that is used by economists to keep the system going, not a symptom/reaction of the system. So your insurance is going up essentially because you can technically afford it when compared to whatever else they are comparing it to.

A big problem in the USA. No real school to give you the knowledge to ride your bike. Too easy to get your licence to ride without even knowing what your rear brake works. When you rear brake you low your bike in order to break better with the front. It is also essential when it rains because you can slide a bit from the rear but with the front you kiss the ground. And finally you can brake a bit with the rear on a turn but not with the front.

As for the fitness element there is some serious truth to that if you want to ride hard. Especially if you want to ride a heavier cruiser bike hard, you really have to work the bike and body position to get to the performance level around turns you'll want since you're starting from a severe disadvantage. That being said it is rewarding muscling a 5, 6, 700lb bike spirited through corners hour after hour.

If your on a 150cc scooter like I am never ever use Michelin tires. they do not grip well and you will slide out even in good weather. you may not have heard of shinko but if you ride year round these give you the best grip when it's wet or slippery it will still feel like it's dry.

Me riding since 1981, started on a Suzuki GT 500, presently a 1700 VMax, next will be a small bike, maybe back to 650 or 500 due to age. Haven't used the rear brake for years except on gravel. Wheelies are for show and shit. Better learn to adapt your mind to given street and traffic. That is hard enough. Once you can "read" the street and other riders / drivers behavior, you are a good rider.

@KestasLi
@KestasLi Жыл бұрын
2:23 not sure if "getting your knee down is a byproduct of speed" is correct statement, because it can seem you only can get deep lean by running fast. Lean depends on centrifugal force, which in turn depends on speed & turn radius (we assume bike + rider mass stays same between runs). Same centrifugal force will be applied if you run 20kmh on 3m radius circle and 90kmh on 60m radius circle. It is probably riders brain which limits deep lean on slower speeds :)...

Hill starts on a manual car and bike are basically the same principle. Only difference is what limbs do what controls. Car Handbrake is equivalent to rear foot brake on a bike. Put in gear, find bite point on clutch with gas, release rear brake/handbrake. Yes many modern cars have hill start assist and no real handbrake but that’s not how you do a hill start on older cars. Tech does seem to be replacing basic driving skills.

I have a beginner question, anyone in comments feel free to reply. I'm a lightweight dude, never rode on anything bigger than a scooter cause I live in Vietnam and everyone rides 'em. Anyways, I'm like 6 feet tall and 140 pounds, but just how heavy are motorcycles? And I know this varies, but for a small dude like me would a 300 or 400cc bike feel pretty light or heavy? And another thing, would a 600cc bike just feel SUPER heavy for me?
