Granted, she wasn't swinging with 150 tons every time she threw a punch, but Yang up to this point has most likely survived a much stronger strength feat. Overtime, her semblance would have allowed Yang's strength to outclass Tifa's. Since its proven Yang can survive Tifa's limit breaks, and assuming she was absorbing power that whole time, she would not only be able to match Tifa's limit breaks, but surpass them.

You know the funny thing is that Tifa used her Premium Hearts, which have EIGHT materia slots to start off with even though Tifa is seen using Fire and Ice Materia, it does not mean that she would never have any stat-boosting materia (aka purple materia or independent materia) let alone not be caring other types of magic materia to aid her in any battle. This means there would have needed to be at least 6 times the force stated in order to throw him, by factoring the weight and force of gravity increasing as he rose into the air. By that math, i can only assume tifa could have broken yangs aura with a single strike. Yang would never have a real chance against the overwhelming force that is Tifa Lockheart. (Edit: to prove im unbiased, i know a lot more about RWBY, and favor those characters over most others. That being said, i know any character from final fantasy - any of them - coud easily destroy any character from rwby except Salem due to he immortality.)

When I first watch this episode. I was like “ok Yang won” but this was before I got into both RWBY and Final Fantasy VII. It was not until I started watching TeamFourStar’s FF7MA and playing the original FFVII I started to question Yang’s victory. After I finished playing the original FFVII, I started watching RWBY and began comparing the feats of Yang and Tifa. That is when I realized Yang’s victory was unjustified and that Tifa should’ve won. And it took them 6 years just for Ben to admit Yang would lose. And the thing that pisses me off the most about the fight was right at the ending it became a commercial for Volume 3 of RWBY. That is one the most sleaziest thing death battle has ever done. As a RWBY fan and a FFVII fan I am extremely disappointed in this shameless excuse of an episode.

Her aura would have failed once Final Heaven was delivered. In the lore, the actual games that is, Final Heaven is said to strike with the force of a nuclear blast concentrated completely within the area of a fist. Seeing how her aura can be overpowered, as she has to SURVIVE the attack without any defenses...she'd literally be blown apart by Final Heaven.

I mean, early on in the series, characters would take a fairly significant beating before their auras would break (obviously not enough to let Yang win this match up, but significant non the less), but later on in the series, its like their auras are breaking multiple times per episode, and its just kind of a thing that happens periodically.

@Ivan Teoh Shen Yue I agree with you on this mainly because if feels like they didn't do their research properly. The Mystile armor is Tifa's best armor option, not the Minerva Band. Second, her Powersoul maxes her attack stat at x4 value when she is low on health. Third, if they knew all the materia combinations, they would know that the Final Attack + Phoenix would have ended the fight because Yang would be tired and exhausted and the Phoenix summon would have revived Tifa to full as well as dealt damage.

On a quarantine binge, rewatching this Death Battle for the first time in years. Animation and choreography still excellent. Results of this one still laughably bad, especially now we know that the folks behind RWBY had input in it. "Tifa shows amazing strength in her limit breaks far beyond anything Yang could take. HOWEVER, she does not show this strength outside of her limit breaks, so it couldn't be taken into account." ?!?!?!?

Well, they're still right: Let's say a city-level character, or at least a character not known for extreme strength like Deadpool: now take him and make him overpower someone like Captain America while hopped up on some kind of steroid. Now take that steroid and make it so he can use it at any time, but add in the fact that it's only a boost to be used to finish a fight or when he's losing. Then add in that that steroid can't be constantly used becuase he has a limited amount. That's the principle, they're both using boosts that they can't use regularly. kind of like how Lucario can move faster than eye-sight, but only in short bursts when using certain attacks. And just to clarify, I don't care about either of these characters, but there are way too many people trying to debunk a non-canon, internet show that exists for fun

Eh limiting Tifa to just fire and ice isn’t giving her everything she truly has at her disposal. There are much more powerful abilities that she has that were left out. I mean Tifa can use Summon Materia but that was left out. She’s also not only limited to fire and ice there’s plenty of materia magic like Poison and Thunder. That’s not counting barriers that could be used to protect her from damage.

They are also limiting Tifa to a tiny fraction of her real strength. Ignoring her best feat, of being able to tank attacks from and deal damage to Sephiroth, if you calculate the amount of force she would have to output, in order to use her meteor strike limit on Diamond weapon, which is a 300 ft tall monster that was made from the earth itself, the limit causes Tifa to throw the target fast enough to light the air around them on fire, which would be around mach 5ish, (their estimate of mach 1, though theoretically true, you don't generally actually see that effect until around mach 5), would be well over 20 times their estimate for Yang's best durability feat. and that isn't even taking into consideration the ability to crit said limit, nor the fact that it comes with 6 other limits of relatively close power.

It's kinda hard to judge power scale between licences but RWBY does have some advantages like aura, and dust can replicate or even beat pretty much every FF7 magic. and we have no way of knowing even who should punch harder as I can think of instances for both of these girls where they smash robots that are several hundreds of tons of steel. And Yang's semblance allows her to punch back harder than her opponent so as long as she survives Tifa's best moves, she pretty much won

Tifa has shown skill in every type of materia, while Yang never really relies on Dust (maybe fire) and prefers to get in close. Tifa is just more skilled with her magic then Yang is with her dust and to add insult to injury Tifa's ribbon would protect her against any status her dust would do. Point goes to Tifa Now on who punches harder...no doubt Tifa does. Sure Yang can punch a man and make him bounce multiple times, But Tifa has thrown Cloud so Hard he broke the sound barrier. Tifa just has far more strength, Yang broke Roman's Bot but Tifa has thrown and killed monsters far bigger such as the omega weapon, the giant snake in the swamp and more. Point Tifa Looking at speed both of these girls are about even with both having dodged lightning, gunfire, and more. really close on this end. But to explain something No Yang does not scale to Ruby's semblance. This is where Materia will come to play. See Tifa can make use of slow, Haste and the like to slow Yang down, While Yang...never really shown to be able to do this, So While Yang has no answer to this, Tifa does. Point Tifa Now we look at Yang's semblance. Yes it is bad ass and a great crutch, but it is limited by her Aura. Now the problem with Aura in RWBY is it is poorly written. one minute they claim "Oh Yang can take 1400 jet liners to the face hurr" But then in the show Yang has been knocked out by Neo throwing her into a train, and once more in One slash by Neo. I find it funny they just excused this outlier and claimed Tifa's strength was "Never shown anywhere else" which is a lie. Even IF we give Yang her "1400 tons" Outlier, Tifa's Final Heaven hit way harder, Sure it'd "reset the power" But Yang ain't surviving it I see no feat of Yangs even coming close to matching the final heaven. But let's give Yang some leeway, let's say she can hypothetically take the 1400 tons of force. Tifa has taken hits from Sephiroth, someone who has taken down creatures FAR bigger than anything Yang has. Not to mention the dude can replicate a god damn Supernova which Tifa can tank. Point Tifa Honestly this DB is a joke. I have watched every season of RWBY and they come no where close to a final fantasy character.

Ya know, I'm keep seeing comments about how "Yang was bleeding, therefore, her aura was gone", but the thing is that in Volume 1 Chapter 14, Jaune fought an Ursa Major, and towards the end of the fight, he was low on aura, but still had a bruise. Lesson: Aura isn't impenetrable, a strong enough hit can go through it without breaking it.

Aura has a limit. It protects you from attacks but the more damage you take the less aura you have. If your aura is low then you're screw. As far as RWBY Jaune is the only character who has been confirmed to have A LOT of aura told by Pyrrha.

+Higaara i actually have a theory on Yangs arm. firstly, its definately not a magic limb regrowth, but in the finale we see Gen. Ironwood reveal that a large portion of his chest and one of his arms are actually robotic, in essence the dudes a cyborg. now we know from the series that these robotics are durable enough for combat (mercury, Gen. Ironwood, Penny), so what if Yang actually gets her arm replaced with a prosthetic one?

Feel like a lot of things on Tifa’s side got glossed over, namely Materia. That things that can do everything from summon gods, some of which can destroy nearly a whole planet! To fully healing wounds. In yangs world magic is the end all force that can’t be beat and Tifa has access to magic far more powerful than anything used in yangs world. Not to mention, potions and other inventory items…

Also just Tifa's physical capabilities in general. Not only did they heavily low ball Tifa in that regard, but even just using the numbers that DB themselves provided in this very video, Tifa is still able to punch with about 15 times the force of Yang's best durability feat (and that isn't even including the fact that they miscalculated her durability by measuring compression force instead of shear force, which increased the number by almost 20 times what it should have been.).
