We took the Humen/Dongguan Station to Guangzhou South. Then to Guilin. We checked out the Longji Rice Terraces before heading to Yangshuo in a minibus. Our guides took us to some really good places. You visited many places we wish we had more time to see. Oh well, heading back to China for more adventures in October. Maybe Chongqing. Maybe Yunnan Province. And more videos to follow. After watching this video, I have an impulse to visit Yangshuo. The scenery was amazing and the food seemed so delicious. However, I hope the camera didn’t swing so much, I felt dizzy and couldn’t finish the video in one time. Anyway, good job and looking forward to the next release 😊.

Hi! Thank you :) Yes, you do need to buy the train tickets separately, but you can easily do that on Trip.com! There's a lot of different train options and times, so there's no set time between the two trains. You can pick the one that fits your schedule best :)

I have read some comments, not only on this channel, on why some “Chinese” have to speak English, regardless whether you like it or not, it is a still a de facto international business language, one does not have to be so sensitive and nationalistic about this. People can speak whatever language they like, and bear in mind not every Asian (Chinese) can speak fluent 普通話, this girl is probably educated at an International school by the sound of her accents, as her accents remind me of some of my family members who went to International school in HK.

Love your videos! We're panning our Guilin/Yangshuo trip for November so your video was really helpful and timely. Can you share which hotel you were at? Did you need to go to the foreign passport line at both the Kowloon West and Guangzhou South stations to do passport verification? Also do we need a tour guide for this trip to Yangshuo? Did you need to download wechat to pay for things, or cash was ok? So many questions...Thank you in advance.

Hi! We stayed at Lihua Chen's Garden Hotel - we booked it on Trip.com. I have a Hong Kong-China permit, but yes, Nick has a foreign passport so he would have to go through the foreigner counters. Hong Kong West Kowloon is actually the entry point into Mainland China, so you will clear immigration and customs all within Hong Kong West Kowloon, and you won't need to do that when you're in Guangzhou. However, do keep your passport on you, because your passport will be your train ticket! If you don't speak any Chinese or find downloading all the apps a bit of a hassle, I think getting a tour guide would be good! You may speak with the hotel and see if they can organise a car so they can take you around the different sites. WeChat/ AliPay are the main forms of payment in the Mainland, but they will also take cash. So if you don't have WeChat and don't want to download it, you should be fine. Just note that there are quite a lot of services that are linked to those apps, so you may not be able to get access to it!

Check out Jiu Zhai Gou, which is north of Chengdu. Its a well kept secret that most foreigners do not know about, but is very popular amongst the Chinese people. Beautiful setting up high in the Himalayas! Thanks for sharing your experience!

what was the process like with renting the scooter in the xingping area? how much did it cost? did you two have any issues with battery charge?

it was quite easy! there was a scooter rental vendor just outside of our hotel, and we paid around 50 RMB for a full day! we didn't go too far, so no problems with battery. you can check with the vendor when you rent how far the scooter can go!

It was easy! If you're in the old town area, it's not too big, so you can easily navigate. But, if you want to go further, you might need to use maps! I'd also suggest using Didi if you wanted to go further out as the e-scooters can't go too far

I used '大众点评' - but not sure if there is an english version... there's also 'XiaoHongShu' which may have a bit more english content! But otherwise... can also ask the hotel you're staying at, or Trip.com for what's good around the area!

Hey Cynny! :) found your channel by coincidence. Gonna head to Guilin for 1 night and then 3 nights in Yangshuo. My hotel is by the river in Yuangshuo and I wanted to ask if its easy to get around? The view point close to your hotel at 6 am for sunrise is meant to be 40min drive by car if you go by googlemaps. Can yoou recommend to take a scooter and are roads empty?

Hiya! You can definitely rent e-scooters easily, your hotel should be able to help with that :) However, as they are e-bikes, they can’t go too far. If you’re going further, you can order a DiDi - they’re super convenient too. For the hike, we actually walked in the dark for about 20 mins before we found the starting point. We found out afterwards that our hotel could have driven us to the start of the hike… so maybe you can check with your hotel too!
