i personally do not like noise music, and tho i understand ppl have diff tastes of music, it’s sad that kpop groups that appeal to the west are typically those loud noise music groups who can’t rlly sing, or strain, while other groups who are more genre, lyric, and vocally better they’ll never get that recognition bc ppl want a repetitive beat that sounds like pots and pans ;-;

full shade, but thats why rv will never be huge internationally or in the general pop scene. pop culture is about the formulaic, the less predictable a product is, the less likely of cultivating a very large fanbase but rather, an intensely loyal smaller one. you don't know what rv's next cb will sound like at all. we do know exactly what bp's will sound like. and that is, for marketing purposes, a benefit.

I love RV's dischography so much especially Chill Kill album. All of the songs on the album are masterpieces. RV seemed to have opened the doorway for another diverse group: Weeekly, one of my all-time favorites. The controversy with "Ven Para" and Jiyoon's departure aside, Weeekly made a promise through their latest album "Colorise" when they said they would conquer the K-pop industry through their own colors, distinct from other groups. They are still to this day competing head-to-head with their rivals/besties STAYC, also another diverse girl group. You have the cute trilogy of "Tag me", "Zig zag", and "After school", the hip hoppy but still cute "Holiday party", the girl-crushy "Ven para", and the more sophisticated "Vroom Vroom" with its relatively easy choreography for beginners. Also the sexy "Backwards".

what i’ve concluded from this list is that 1) i seem to enjoy the electropop genre bc most of my favourite red velvet songs (ice cream cake, bad dracula, in & out, mosquito, power up, red dress, stupid cupid, zimzalabim, parade, chill kill) are from this genre and 2) most of their best songs come from the contemporary r&b genre
