Dorothy Zehnder just passed away on 7.09.2023 the Matriarch, she was 101 years old and was still working at Zehnders..the liver pate’ is amazing on the garlic crusts

I grew up in Michigan, I've been to Frankenmuth several times. In the early 2000s I sat next to Mickey Rooney and his family in the Bavarian Inn dining room. He was very humble and just seemed like a regular guy. Of course they loved the chicken dinner.

Thanks for sharing downtown Frankenmuth. I have stopped at Bronner's many times on the way back from Mackinac Island, but I've never gone to downtown Frankenmuth. I will have to go the next time I am in the area.

The liver pâté at Zehnder’s is delicious …. I’ve enjoyed it every time I’ve been there. But then again, I like liver and onions with bacon on top as well! 😂 The food looks absolutely delicious! It’s been a minute since I’ve been there unfortunately, probably a couple of years before the pandemic. And unfortunately, I have not been in a position to return since. I think I’m going to plan for a nice trip up there with my daughter and grandson in 2024. Sometime in the fall. I kind of enjoy the fall and we can get a ride on the riverboat on the Cass River.

When the elephants trunk is up, it usually means that he’s angry and charging at whatever it is he’s angry at. As to whether that’s good luck or not, I suppose it depends on which end of his charge you’re at? I remember my father brought back a table lamp made from Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) made from Ebony wood that had a tree as the main portion of the lamp, and there was also an elephant with this trunk up.

Thank you for sharing. I went there when I was a child. We were visiting my Aunt Miriam and Uncle Ozzie who lived in Sandusky and had a motel along the highway back in the day. While watching yesterday’s video on the store I was thinking that we went some place famous that had been around a long time and had chicken. Thank you for confirming my memory. I’d love to go back there to see it as an adult.

I was born in Port Huron and lived in St. Clair until 1961 . I watch your video of being down on the St. Clair River often. It just brings a little bit of home for me. I lived on Brown Street which is right at the top of the hill off Riverside. My father was the golf professional at St. Clair River country club. We ate many meals at the St Clair Inn. My mother always went to Frankenmuth and I never got to go with her. I wish I had. I live in Cleveland and she lived in Toledo. I just never made it. Maybe it's time. My Late Mom used to cut her chicken that same way. We had a pulley bone in it. I also had those little toys in pudding cups. This video brought back so many memories. Ty so much!

We used to have an American Family style restaurant sort of like that in California back in the 70s and 80s I remember going to as a kid a lot...was called The Big Yellow House and they looked like big Yellow Victorian houses and had food very similar to this place...was fried chicken, ham, potatoes, rolls, corn, salad etc. I wish we had something like that nowadays! There are still a few places were you can see what used to be a Big Yellow House around southern California but now turned into something else and no longer yellow lol

We were very disappointed in Frankenmuth in general, suppose to be a Germany town with nothing Germany but a sausage plate in the basement of a store. We actually ate at the Bavarian inn but did get a sausage in the basement deli at Zehnders

Last time I ate at Zehnders in that White Building at Last April 2024 their Chicken 🍗 pieces are too small and I think 🤔 that The Zehnders who run that White Building as Cheap Donkeys 🫏 for that Reason . I prefer the Bavarian Inn across the street much better for their very own Chicken 🍗 pieces are just the right size like before.
