Today I sat behind my piano and officially started to learn how to play. I came across this song in a piano class I took in college. We were playing songs like jingle bells- very basic stuff. A man in my class said “I’m going to play a song that I learned on KZbin” My jaw dropped to the floor. I was in awe. This song brings out so many emotions in my soul. I finally found the original today. I’m determined to learn it through and through. Thank you for your incredible talent and for sharing it with the world. Today, is day one :) it’s a challenge, but I’m so determined to push my way through.

Jakob Lenz you re right! I also saw him twice live, but he seems a perfectionist I would have thought he records these in one take! And honestly, for rue des cascades 90s live version is still my favourite! He was playing it quite fast and stormy :D

@@tudor33 I'm pretty sure the sound recording comes from one take, and the lion's share of the footage comes from the same one - but to make a video/movie interesting, you need to make it lively visually, by adding a bunch of cuts, different camera angles ... not always easy to get all those with, say, 5 cameras around him, bumping into each others and getting in the shot, so you shoot a few more extra takes from different angles, from which you extract the cuts. The main take still exists, in all its purity...

Dear Mr. Tiersen, I just listened to Navel (Portrait Version) as the first song I’ve heard of yours, and wanted to give you my impression of it. It’s a beautiful piano & violin duet developing an image of a bucolic landscape, and starting simply with the soft breath of a lamb. I imagine a tranquil lake, beautiful swans, sun overhead. But the summer breeze turns to wind, swaying trees and rustling the animals, awaken from a miday slumber. Rainfall begins, building into a storm while animals flee and cry for shelter. Then a flash and rumble, the animals silenced with fear. Or were they digitized where they stood, and transformed from one form to another. I heard this piece when i was 12 or 13 not exactly sure, but at that age I felt like wow I would like to play that on piano forever and enjoy it. Yann Tiersen has built a lot of traits in me. Thank You for that Mr. Tiersen. I started playing on piano from very young age when I heard my Mom was playing, just fell in love with it. then I discovered Yann Tiersen and got even more motivated to continue playing .Now I am 25 still playing and enjoying music .
