This is hard for me to listen to....my mother introduced me to Yanni. She would become so influenced by the beauty of his music, I'll never forget seeing her hearing this...she passed away in 2008 and every year on mother's day i listen to the live at the Acropolis songs because it was such a beautiful time for me growing up. her passion still flows through me every day...and ill never forget her love for this. I've since then taken up piano and happily to say I have quite a touch for it...I hope I make her proud. R.I.P. to one of the greatest, Kathleen Susan Pierce.

His music comes from his soul, his facial expressions convey that. His hands are a gift from God. I’ve been a fan since this album came out. His music got me through the darkest moments of being on a sterile bone marrow wing for 2 months. I finally saw him LIVE in Atlantic City in the fall of 2018. It was a dream. I cried and had the chills from the moment the concert started. Few things in this life have moved me to the depth his music does...thank you Yanni.
@scootermom17914 жыл бұрын
You are very fortunate to not only have survived a bone marrow transplant but to also see Yanni Live. He was on tour in the late 90's, and I would have given anything to see him live. Unfortunately, I hadn't learned he was on tour then until it was too late. I haven't listened to him for awhile because his music brings back hard memories tied to it. But I felt compelled to listen today. 🙂 I hope things are still well with you and your health especially this year.

@@scootermom1791 thank you so much! I got lucky and did not have to have a transplant but had to be there for that long because I almost died when I was diagnosed. I was on a pill form of chemo (Gleevec) until April of 2018 and have been off of it since then. 11 1/2 years on it. Still in a remission, see my oncologist next week. My DNA was altered so it will always be a threat for me to come out of my remission. I GOT LUCKY. Seeing Yanni was a dream. He will tour again and if you get the opp, don’t let it go by. Thank you for your kind words. Be well and safe and have a very Happy New Year! Your words mean a lot to me, especially in this day and age when kindness is not at the forefront of a lot of posts!

@@sharonw9229 Thank you as well! My dad had cancer when I was a kid (Hodgkin's), was in remission for many years but with tons of long term effects, then got a secondary cancer before he died from complications. The in-between times of both cancers were the worst because he had extremely bad digestive issues and had a hard time keeping his weight up. Thankfully, though, he did not have to be on chemo or radiation for more than a couple of years for the Hodgkin's. I can't imagine how you were able to tolerate being on chemo for 11 1/2 years! That's horrific! I hope you threw a party after taking your last pill! Lol I hope Yanni does get the chance to tour again despite the crazy world we now live in. I join the millions who are ready to kiss this year goodbye and hope for a better, healthier, and friendlier year in 2021. I appreciate your kindness as well. There should be more people like you in this world! 🙂

@@scootermom1791 I’m truly sorry about your dad and the pain he went through. Funny, people think a chemo pill is not REAL chemo. The side effects were extreme water retention which causes a host of its own problems, extreme digestive issues and many other side effects. My will to live got me past all of the rough stuff. Many times I turned to music when being hospitalized or having tests. Yanni has always been a fav since the 90’s along with others. Yanni’s music is so special. I cried many times during the concert for so many reasons. To top it all off he’s so real and is so passionate about his music and seeing what it does to people. Be well and know that your dad’s spirit is always with you...
@scootermom17914 жыл бұрын
@@sharonw9229 Thank you! I'm sorry to hear people didn't think of a chemo pill as "real chemo". Sheesh! People are weird. I'm glad to know they actually have chemo available in a pill. Medicine has come a long way since when my dad started with everything 40+ years ago. As far as I'm concerned, you EARNED the experience to see Yanni Live. You should have received free back stage passes, too. 🙂 Music got me through a lot of very difficult times growing up (i.e. being in and out of foster care due to a mentally ill mom). I played violin for a very long time and also taught myself saxophone and piano. I lived and breathed music as a teen and don't know if I could have gotten through everything without it. Yanni and Kenny G were two of my favorites in the early 90's. I actually saw Kenny G live twice: the first time was before he was famous. Anyway, Yanni and Kenny G have a knack for reaching one's soul.

This music is so subtle - quivering and so beautiful! I just want to touch these genius hands with my lips as a sign of worship.. Geniuses are small children of the Universe. Have you noticed that they always have a childish curious look, regardless of their age?? .. God bless you, Yanni. I hope that you will come back and we will hear your new divine melodies again. I have listen to Yanni for a good number of years it is the most beautiful music I’ve ever listen to as someone said Yanni should receive the Pulitzer award for the best music ever and any other award that can be given to someone who can produce music the way he does, my hats off to him because of his music and his philosophy of life I have ever heard.

Finally, after so many years I was able to meet Yanni. He is a musician apart from the mainstream entertainment or classical-virtuoso performers out there. He is a unique individual passionate about his art and dedicated to transmit optimism through his sound in order for us to celebrate the potential of our humanity. I used to admire Chopin and Liszt for their technical knowledge and inmortal works but Yanni is about feeling each and every note performed going beyond dexterity and aiming at the heart of the audience. His music makes us realize the beauty of our world and that every second counts “until the last moment.”

This song has been accompanying me since 1996 when I first listened to it…. For me, is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, by anybody, and this performance was magical…. I never get tired of it, which is very rare in my case, and it always sounds new and relevant to me… listening to it always restores somehow my faith in humanity.
