@@InTheRedShirt The head course does not teach blender sculpting tools basics, it teaching sculpting heads. You can even use it with a different program if you prefer. You should however have some knowledge of the sculpting tools you are using, atleast at a basic level. This is explained more in depth in the FAQ section of the course, in the gumroad page ;)

However as I was following along to learn more about sculpting and just getting a starting base for my own thing, I noticed the Symmetrize tool in the sculpt space wouldn't work for me, no matter what I tried. It wasn't too big of a deal for me as I did want the arms to have separate poses/detailing, but I'm concerned that it'll happen again when I actually need/want it to work. I love your content Yan, I use ZBrush to sculpt characters and your videos help me a lot to learn and improve! Soon I would like to learn how to use Blender, and I wanted to ask you about how in minute 3:00 you can work the facial features symmetrically even though the model's face is not symmetrically oriented. Usually I first make the face from the front with symetry and once finished I rotate it. I would like to be able to sculpt directly in 3/4 while keeping the symmetry on so I can have a better view of the model and it's general pose. So how do you do it? its a blender feature? or there is something more that I'm missing? P.S: I love how this chaarcter ended up looking
@yansculpts2 ай бұрын
Thanks! The symmetry takes into account the origin point. If you move the object and or rotate it in object mode (not edit mode), the origin point follows, so symmetry does as well.
@Sean-fs1sgАй бұрын
I've had my eye on your sculpting course for a while now as I consider moving over from ZBrush to Blender... Do you talk much about your way of configuring tools/brushes and your shortcuts setup? Blender drives me crazy with the Object, Sculpt, and Edit mode subtlties to the point where I give up after losing my undo's, or constantly find myself in Edit mode, when I want to be in Object mode etc.
@yansculpts27 күн бұрын
I am guessing you are looking for an introduction to the tools in blender, the one up to date in terms of sculpting tools is the patreon crash course, it is a quick intro to sculpting in blender, i believe that one is 2 hours total with the sculpt, it is available for all patreons, and you can quit after first month if you aren't interested in the rest. The other courses (head mastering one, anatomy one, etc) is about sculpting, not the sculpting tools if that makes sense. You can see in detail what each course offers in their respective gumroad pages.

Just came across ur channel and wanna get into 3d sculpting for a min just got my pc rig to do so. I know you have ur own classes and stuff and obviously you would reccomend it, however do you think someone with absolutely 0 skillset should get rn to learn things (it does look really in depth especially with anatomy) or do you reccomend some other stuff to get familiar and have some skillset before I jump into your courses. Really want to make some characters of my own.
@yansculptsАй бұрын
courses is not a must, it is helpful. Having a subject or a bunch of subjects properly covered in a good format can work wonders, but everything can be learnt in different ways if you prefer. Here is what I would focus on if you want to sculpt: Learn a tool to sculpt (for example find a youtube tutorial on sculpting tools of blender to try it out) I also have a patreon crash course for any patreon who joins if you prefer it in a course format, you can quite after the first month if that is all you want from there. Once you have a tool, to get good at characters you need a very good understanding and a lot of practice on art fundementals (look it up for more details). This is a long journey so how you want to proceed is up to you. My head and anatomy course are great for peeps who already know how to use the tool, which ever it is (you can even follow with zbrush since these courses are focused on sculpting and excercises rather than how to use a tool). They are not enough though, again art is a journey. You have to keep practicing and learning the art fundementals, but the good news is the journey is the best part of this all, focus on improving everyday and enjoy the process. Best of luck!
